Watch this police interrogation with intense raw interrogation from the interrogation room as police conduct a full interrogation of a suspect. This raw interrogation footage captures every moment of the suspect interview, complete with deception detection techniques, and criminal psychology in true JCS style interrogation. The Background Victim: Jeffrey Franklin, age 16, adoptive son of Ernest Franklin II and Heather Franklin. Adopted approximately six to seven years earlier (formal adoption around 2012). Jeffrey was deaf and non-verbal/mute, had developmental challenges/special needs, behavioral issues, and mobility impairment. Heather Franklin (approximately 33 at the time) was the adoptive mother. Prosecutors stated the challenges of caring for Jeffrey created stress that motivated the crime. They further stated Heather and Ernest watched Manchester by the Sea on the night of February 28, 2017, and that the film (in which a character accidentally starts a fire that kills children and is not prosecuted) inspired the plan to kill Jeffrey and use fire to conceal the death. The Crime Location: Family double-wide trailer at 457 State Highway 8, Town of Guilford, Chenango County, New York. Date: Late February 28 into early March 1, 2017. Fire reported around 1:14–1:15 a.m. on March 1. Per an appellate court summary of the facts in Heather Franklin’s case: the couple tied Jeffrey’s hands and arms to his bed and left him alone for several hours. Upon returning and finding him dead, they repositioned the body on the mattress and set the trailer ablaze to destroy physical evidence. Heather left the property (reported as an errand) and drove around nearby areas before returning after the fire was reported. Jeffrey was found dead on his bed. Autopsy showed no soot or smoke in the windpipe or lungs (he was dead before the fire). A forensic pathologist testified death resulted from “violent means,” but the exact cause could not be determined due to extensive fire damage. The fire was linked to a wood stove (door left open). The Investigation Immediate red flags at the scene; autopsy results led investigators to treat the case as a homicide. Heather and Ernest were arrested around March 21–22, 2017, and indicted on second-degree murder, third-degree arson, and tampering with physical evidence. Key evidence included the absence of smoke inhalation, pathologist testimony of pre-fire death by violent means, the timing relative to the film viewing, Heather’s absence from the property during the events, and the fire’s origin and purpose in concealing evidence. Exact mechanism of death remains undetermined due to fire damage. Conviction and Sentencing Heather Franklin pleaded guilty on April 2, 2019 (the day before her trial was set to begin), in Chenango County Court to first-degree manslaughter, third-degree arson, and tampering with physical evidence. On July 15, 2019, Judge Frank Revoir sentenced her to five years for manslaughter plus consecutive terms of up to three years each for the arson and tampering charges (aggregate up to 11 years), followed by five years of post-release supervision. true crime, law and crime network, interrogation, interrogation analysis, red thread interrogations, interrogation jcs inspired, interrogation jcs style, interrogation psychology, interrogation psychology jcs inspired, new interrogations 2026,interrogation breakdown, police interrogation psychology, bodycam, interview, case analysis, bodycam footage, crime investigation, police interrogation, suspect interview, int, interrogations 2026,interrogation videos, jcs true crime
