#news #police #arrest #cops Report: On 07/15/2022, Officers were dispatched in reference to a shoplifting in progress. Enroot to the call officer was updated that Capt Radford was on scene at Academy Sports and witnessed two subjects filling up shopping carts with merchandise and attempting to leave the store without paying. Officers made contact with Capt. Radford whom provided a description of the two subjects. One black male wearing a blue hat and a female with blue hair. Officer made contact with the offender with blue hair. The offender kept attempting to walk away from me. The officer ordered the offender to stand to my left. The suspect began to walk away at a fast pace. The officer grabbed the offender's right arm in an attempt to detain the offender. The suspect hit my right arm and started to run towards Depalma's. The officers ordered the offender to stop. The offender kept running, The officers followed behind the offender giving commands. The offender ran across the road. Other officers in the area were able to make contact with the offender. The suspect was detained (DL, BB). The manager of Academy Sports wanted the suspects barred for a period of two years 07/15/2022-0715/2024 for the attempted shoplifting. The offender was told in person by the manager and understood their barring. The other suspect was told by the manager by phone who was out with officers at the scene and that suspect stated that he would not return. He was released from the scene and left the property. The suspect that ran was transported to the Clarke County Jail. The offender was not able to be identified at the time of writing this report.
