Report: On June 26th, 2026 at approximately 9:58 p.m., I, Trooper Jonathan Johnson was traveling south in lane 1 on Interstate 57 near the 1- mile marker, operating radar. I observed a sports bike pass me traveling in lane 3 at a high rate of speed. I radioed Arkansas State Police Troop A Telecommunications, I was trying to catch up to the sports bike by activating my emergency lights and siren. My front-facing radar detected the motorcycle traveling 120 mph in a 60 mph zone. At approximately 9:59 p.m., I advised Troop A Telecommunications I was in pursuit with the motorcycle later identified as an orange Suzuki GSX800 displaying Arkansas temporary tag. The driver, later identified as Wilmar Banegas started to drive on west shoulder on 57 south towards Interstate 40 west. Mr. Banegas traveled across all lanes of traffic and passed vehicles on the south shoulder on Interstate 40 west and merged onto Interstate 30 west excessing speeds over 120 mph. We continued to travel west on Interstate 30 near the 138- mile marker excessing speeds over 130 mph and Mr. Banegas continued to pass vehicles on the shoulder. As we were traveling west on Interstate 30 near the 136- mile marker, I canceled the pursuit due to traffic congestion and lost sight of the motorcycle momentarily. I relocated Mr. Banegas traveling west on the left shoulder on Interstate 30 near the 135- mile marker and engaged back in the pursuit. At that time, Trooper Ethan Hiland was able to intercept in the pursuit near the 134- mile marker and took over primary. The pursuit continued west on Interstate 30 and exited at the 131- mile marker at excess speeds of 100 mph. The pursuit continued west on Baseline Rd. Mr. Banegas passed a vehicle on the right shoulder when he left the roadway and collided with a culvert at 9824 Baseline Rd. During the investigation of the accident, I observed the motorcycle had bald tires. I could smell an odor of intoxicants on his person. Mr. Banegas consented to a Preliminary Breath Test (PBT) with a result of .06. Mr. Banegas was transported by MEMS Medical Services to Baptist Little Rock for his injuries and was released. I transported Mr. Banegas to Pulaski County Regional Detention Center and charged accordingly.
