It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: At about 1:22 AM on November 23, 2024, Patrolman Joseph Calao of the Little Silver Police Department was on DWI patrol. He saw a woman driving a Honda with fresh front-end damage. He pulled over and approached her. The woman, later identified as Emily, got out of the car and appeared upset. As he spoke to her, Calao noticed a strong smell of alcohol. Emily suddenly tried to run away and started hitting officers when Patrolman Michael Morgan tried to stop her. She was quickly placed under arrest. While officers were trying to put handcuffs on her, Emily kicked Patrolman Matthew McGrady. She also slipped out of her handcuffs while being led to the patrol car. The officers re-cuffed her and decided to take her to the station to prevent her from escaping again. At the police station, Emily was taken for further processing. Since she was not being charged with DWI, her vehicle was not towed. After she was secured to a bench, Patrolman McGrady explained why she was under arrest. Because she struggled physically, emergency responders were called for a checkup. She refused to go to the hospital after her evaluation. Once calmer, Emily was photographed and fingerprinted. After processing, she was given a ride back home and released until her court date.
