FORSYTH, GEORGIA — October 15, 2023. A Forsyth Police traffic stop on I-75 escalated into a 131 MPH pursuit, a violent crash, and the arrests of multiple suspects. The driver, 22-year-old Ashlei Stephens — also known as “The Hennessy Smurf” — was charged with: DUI Speeding Felony Fleeing Driving While License Suspended Failure to Maintain Lane Stephens later accepted a negotiated plea deal and was sentenced to 2 years in a Georgia state prison. She began serving her time on June 17, 2024, but after only six months she was paroled on December 4, 2024. 18-year-old Rico Jermaine Martin fled on foot after the crash but was caught. He was charged with misdemeanor obstruction. Martin also took a plea deal and was sentenced to 25 days in Monroe County Jail, credited as time served. 21-year-old Markaesia Deshaie Shine falsely claimed to be a corrections officer. It was later confirmed she was a former DOC employee with active warrants out of Pulaski County, Arkansas. She was charged with impersonating a public officer. 17-year-old Donteveyon Johnson was pulled from the vehicle and found in possession of a stolen firearm. His case is still pending. A 16-year-old female passenger was transported to the hospital for treatment.
