On August 25, 2024, Athens Clarke County Police Sergeant Franco observed a vehicle driving with no headlights on. He initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, which was being driven by a 20-year-old woman. The police report indicates that Sgt. Franco detected a very strong odor of alcohol coming from the woman's breath. She was asked to step out of the vehicle in order to perform standardized field sobriety tests. After the completion of the tests, the woman was arrested for Driving Under the Influence. She was transported to the police substation for a breath test. The lower of the 2 breath samples was 0.243% BAC (more than 11 times the legal limit for someone under 21 years of age). Her charges and the outcome of her case are listed at the end of the video.
