It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: The clock read 7:05 PM on March 7, 2024. Patrolman Daniel Kirkbride noticed a car. It was a 2005 Hyundai Elantra weaving on White Horse Pike. The car neared Evesham Road and then sped through a red light. Kirkbride worked for the Magnolia Police Department. He turned on his lights after the traffic violation. He wanted the driver to stop. The Elantra pulled to the side on W Evergreen Avenue. This was in Somerdale, a nearby town. Patrolman Kirkbride asked Alyssa, the 29-year-old driver, for her license and registration. As he spoke to her, he smelled alcohol in the car. Alyssa could not find her documents. Kirkbride suspected she was impaired. He requested Patrolman Brick Wilce to perform field sobriety tests. A few minutes later, Patrolman Wilce arrived. He asked Alyssa to say the alphabet. She needed to start at “C” and end at “Y” without singing. Alyssa could not say the letters in order. The officer thought she was impaired. Alyssa was asked to get out of the car. She had to do sobriety tests. Alyssa refused to do them, even though the officer asked. Alyssa's driving was all over the place. Patrolman Kirkbride smelled alcohol on her. She would not do the field sobriety tests. Because of this, he arrested her for driving under the influence. A search of her car turned up open alcohol containers. This search happened after the arrest. Her vehicle got impounded because of John’s Law. The impound will last twelve hours. Alyssa was taken to the Magnolia Police Department. There, they would process her further. At the Magnolia Police Department, officers read Alyssa her rights. She would not take a breath test. Alyssa also declined to answer any questions. Officers finished their reports. A sober adult arrived for Alyssa. After signing a warning form, he took responsibility for her. Police issued Alyssa many summonses. These included operating under the influence. She was also charged with refusing a chemical test. Reckless driving and careless driving were listed. Alyssa did not have her license or registration. She also lacked proof of insurance. Other charges included traffic violations. She failed to stop at a light. Plus, Alyssa had an open container. Alyssa's past includes some troubling events. About a week before, she was arrested for DWI in Barrington, New Jersey. This happened after she caused a car crash. Her BAC level was 0.16%, twice the legal limit. She also had another DWI arrest.
