It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: On September 17, 2023, at 7:18 PM, Officer Conti saw a red Acura. It was a 2008 model. The car drove strangely on Route 22 West. This was near Buffalo Wild Wings. The Acura almost hit Conti's car. The driver went onto the US 202/206 North exit. Then, the driver took the exit toward Bridgewater Commons Mall. Finally, the driver stopped in the mall's parking lot. Conti told dispatch what happened. He then spoke to the driver. The driver's name was Kaitlyn. He requested Kaitlyn's papers, but she could not find his registration. Soon after, Officer Flores came to help. He asked where she had been. Kaitlyn said she was coming from Buffalo Wild Wings. She said she drank alcohol before driving. Because they thought she was impaired, Kaitlyn was taken to the parking garage. There, she would do sobriety tests. Officer Flores began the field sobriety tests with the HGN test. Next, Kaitlyn tried the Walk and Turn test. She could not touch heel-to-toe each time. Her counting was also wrong. Finally, she attempted the One Leg Stand test. Kaitlyn failed to lift her foot the right way. Plus, she stopped counting too soon. Kaitlyn's driving was all over the place. There was a strong smell of booze. She even said she had been drinking. Kaitlyn failed the roadside tests. She was arrested right then. Her car was taken away because of John's Law. It had to stay impounded for 12 hours. Officer Conti took Kaitlyn to the police station. He read her the rules about drunk driving. She agreed to take a breath test. The test showed her alcohol level was 0.24%. That's three times the legal limit. Kaitlyn's release hinged on her in-laws' signatures. They signed the Potential Liability Warning for her. This allowed Kaitlyn to await her court date outside of custody. Officer Gallo then approached Conti. He issued citations for several offenses. These included operating under the influence. Reckless driving and careless driving were also listed. On January 3, 2024, Kaitlyn faced the court. She was found guilty of driving under the influence. As a result, Kaitlyn had penalties to face. She had to use an ignition interlock for 3 months. Plus, she had to spend 12 hours at a driver resource center. Fines totaled $640. Kaitlyn caught a break, though.
