Please like, comment, and SHARE! 🙏 🔍 Episode Overview: At 9:07 p.m. on August 28, 2022, Ridgewood Police Officer Zachary Knudsen arrived at a crash near the Tire & Wheel Performance Center on Route 17 South. He spoke first with the truck driver, who said he had seen another vehicle swerving since Mahwah. Knudsen then spoke with Andrea, who was driving a 2006 Pontiac G6. She said the truck had struck the passenger side of her car. Officer John Ward arrived a few minutes later. As he spoke with Andrea, he noticed signs that she might be impaired. She had trouble keeping her balance, ignored officers' orders, and tried to leave several times. Officers asked her to take field sobriety tests, but she refused to cooperate. Ward arrested her on suspicion of impairment. Andrea's boyfriend filmed the arrest and tried to intervene. She stiffened her arms and body, then kicked an officer as they placed her in the patrol car. Her vehicle was impounded for a mandatory 12-hour hold under John's Law. Officers later took her to the Ridgewood Police Department for processing. At the station, Andrea received the Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators but refused to provide breath samples. She was released to a sober adult, who signed a Potential Liability Warning form. Andrea received criminal summonses for allegedly resisting arrest and obstructing justice. Knudsen also issued traffic summonses for driving under the influence, refusing breath samples, and not having her driver insurance card. Court records show that the obstruction charge was dropped on November 3, 2023. The resisting arrest charge was changed to "prohibited conduct - 1st offense," with a $150 fine. Andrea pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and refusing breath samples, paying fines of $540 and $440. Her plea deal also required her to use an ignition interlock device for three months and complete 12 hours at an intoxicated driver resource center.
