It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: At approximately 10:29 PM on August 6, 2023, Sergeant William Merkler from the South Brunswick Police Department was driving east on Henderson Road when another driver flagged him down. They informed him about a nearby car crash. Sergeant Merkler then turned onto Blackhorse Lane and spotted a 2023 Jeep Wrangler improperly parked on the road; it had evidently hit the guardrails on both sides. He approached the driver, who was later named Jetmira, age 26, and asked her to describe what had happened. Sergeant Merkler asked Jetmira for her driver’s license, prompting her to step out of the car. While talking to her, he noticed the smell of alcohol and other signs of impairment. A few minutes later, Officer Colleen Murphy arrived. Sergeant Merkler filled her in on what had happened and requested that she conduct field sobriety tests. Officer Murphy walked up to Jetmira, who was in the driver's seat, and asked if she had been drinking. Jetmira admitted to having alcohol within the last hour. Sensing she might be impaired, Officer Murphy requested that she step out of the car and offered her a chance to do some field sobriety tests. The first test was the Walk and Turn. Jetmira struggled with this; she didn’t place her heel against her toe and couldn’t keep a straight path. Next, they moved on to the One Leg Stand test. Here, Jetmira had trouble lifting her foot correctly and showed signs of losing her balance. After the traffic accident, officers noted the smell of alcohol on Jetmira. She admitted to drinking earlier that night. When asked to perform field sobriety tests, she struggled. As a result, she was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Her car was towed and held for 12 hours as required by John’s Law. Officer Murphy took her to the South Brunswick Police Department to complete the processing steps. At the South Brunswick Police Department, Jetmira was informed about the Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators. She agreed to take breath tests. The results showed her blood alcohol concentration (BAC) was 0.14%, exceeding the legal limit of 0.08%. Jetmira was later released to a sober adult who signed the Potential Liability Warning form for her. Officer Murphy issued her several traffic summonses: one for operating under the influence, and others for reckless driving, careless driving, not staying in marked lanes, and using a hand-held cell phone. 2:10 she states I'm not gonna lie to you. 3:23 I no longer liked her.... 1:01:49 flatulence?
