It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: January 2, 2024, unfolded with an odd call. Around 10:42 PM, Officer Koster headed to Bingham Lane. The report? A white SUV acting strange. At first, he saw nothing. Soon, a white 2019 Volvo XC90 caught his eye. The driver weaved near Bingham Lane and Village Road. Officer Koster tailed the Volvo. He then pulled it over by Louisville Lane and Nashville Lane. The driver was Danielle. Officer Koster spoke with Danielle and smelled strong cannabis in her car. Danielle seemed upset. She told the officer she argued with her husband that night. Suspecting she was impaired, Koster called for backup. Officer Flores soon arrived. They suspected Danielle was impaired. She was asked to exit her car. Then, she had to do field sobriety exercises. The officer started with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test. Next, Danielle attempted the Walk and Turn. She failed to touch heel-to-toe each time. She also raised her arms for balance, a sign of trouble. Then came the One Leg Stand. Danielle could not raise her foot right. She put her foot down too early. The Modified Romberg Balance Test was next. Danielle thought 30 seconds had passed, but only 25 had. Finally, the Lack of Convergence test showed impairment, according to Officer Koster. Danielle finished the field sobriety tests. Next, Officer Koster let her take a breath test. It showed a BAC of 0.00%. But Koster thought she was high on cannabis. So, he arrested her for driving under the influence. Officer Flores then searched Danielle after handcuffing her. Finally, they put her in the patrol car. Officer Koster took Danielle to Mercyhealth Hospital. They wanted blood and urine samples. Danielle said no. So, she went back to the Crystal Lake Police Department. The police contacted Judge Altman to get a warrant. The judge said yes, but Danielle still did not comply. Officers then searched her vehicle. Inside, they found illegal items. This gave them enough reason to charge her. With her paperwork finalized, Danielle gained release. She awaits her court date on February 13, 2024. The charges include driving under the influence of alcohol. She also faces charges for resisting an officer.
