It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: On July 30, 2025, at about 3:58 p.m., Patrolman Christopher Gilmore from the Little Silver Police Department rushed to the parking lot at 507 Prospect Avenue. A call reported a car crash. He got there fast. He saw a 2024 Kia Sorento had hit a 2018 Honda CR-V. The Honda's back end on the driver's side took a big hit. But it could still drive. The 72-year-old Honda driver and her 68-year-old sister sat parked. Their car wasn't moving at the time. So the Kia driver caused the wreck. Gilmore talked to the Kia driver next. Her name was Jill Mannix. While chatting, he smelled alcohol. He saw signs she might be drunk. Jill said she was off to get her nails done. At first, she claimed no drinks that day. Later, she confessed to a few glasses of wine the night before. Suspicious, Gilmore called Sergeant Scott Lorenson for backup. The Honda folks drove off safely. But Jill had to do sobriety tests. Lorenson began with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test. Next came the Walk and Turn. Jill messed up. She didn't touch heel to toe. Her turn was sloppy too. Last was the One Leg Stand. She didn't lift her foot right. And she dropped it too soon. The crash, her drunk signs, and bad test results led to her arrest. Cops charged her with driving under the influence. They towed her car. State law required a 12-hour hold under John's Law. Gilmore drove her to the station for more steps. They read her the standard rights for drivers. She agreed to a breath test. After watching her for 20 minutes, she blew into the machine. The Alcotest showed 0.332% blood alcohol. That's over four times the 0.08% limit. They wrapped up paperwork and tickets. Then they let her go to a sober friend. She signed the liability warning for court later.
