On November 8, 2024, Las Cruces Police Service Aide (PSA) Gould responded to a motor vehicle accident. He immediately sensed that the 30-year-old driver of the at-fault vehicle might be under the influence, so he called for a police officer to respond to the location. Officer Ibarra arrived and interviewed the woman. She refused to submit to field sobriety testing, so she was placed under arrest for DUI. The woman was transported to the Las Cruces police station, where she agreed to submit to an evidential breath test. The result of her two breath samples were 0.20% and 0.18% BAC. After receiving medical clearance at the hospital, she was transported to the Dona Ana County Detention Center. She was charged with Aggravated Driving While Under the Influence. Her case is still open and all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
