Jordan Wheeler was 33, a mother of three, two months into a divorce. On the evening of October 19, 2023, one of her sons called her, upset. She drove to the house to get her boys — and she went in recording, because she believed she needed evidence just to pick up her own children. What happened in the next hour exists on three recordings: her phone, her 911 call, and the camera in the room where Steven Wheeler told two detectives that all of it was self-defence. Steven Bryce Wheeler was convicted of first-degree premeditated murder and felony firearm after a six-day jury trial in January 2025, and sentenced in February 2025 to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
