It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: On November 28, 2024, around 8:56 PM, Officer Donna Zorbas from the Wauconda Police Department responded to a strange vehicle in the parking lot at 547 W Liberty Street. She spotted a car, a 2019 Honda Accord, parked oddly in the middle of the lane with the driver’s side door wide open. Approaching the car, she saw a woman sitting in the front seat with her head bent outside the window. The driver was later identified as 23-year-old Breanna Pflugradt. Breanna told Officer Zorbas she was feeling nauseous. She explained she was heading home after a Thanksgiving party at a friend’s house. While talking to Breanna, Officer Zorbas noticed signs of intoxication, even though Breanna denied drinking. The officer performed the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test with Breanna sitting inside the car. She showed clear signs of impairment. Sensing she was likely under the influence, Officer Zorbas asked Breanna to step out of the vehicle and do more field sobriety tests. Breanna struggled with the Walk and Turn test. She failed to follow instructions, walking backwards when she was supposed to turn. She also couldn’t complete the One Leg Stand test properly. These failures confirmed the officer’s suspicion. Officer Zorbas then placed Breanna in the back of her patrol car and called for another officer to bring a portable breathalyzer. While inside the patrol car, Officer Zorbas noticed the strong smell of alcohol. Breanna agreed to take a breath test, which showed her blood alcohol concentration (BAC) was 0.230%. That’s nearly three times the legal limit of 0.08%. Based on the smell, her performance during the tests, her admission of drinking earlier, and the test results, Breanna was arrested for driving under the influence. She was handcuffed and taken to the police station for processing. At the Wauconda Police Department, the officer read her the Warning to Motorist form. Breanna agreed to provide more breath samples. The second test showed a BAC of 0.197%, still well above the legal limit. After the processing, she was released with a court date along with two summonses: – Driving under the influence of alcohol under 625 ILCS 5/11-501(a)(2) – Driving with a BAC of 0.08 or higher under 625 ILCS 5/11-501(a)(1) 5:38 Realllly 42:40 Ok now here's the real you!!!! 47:06 So her grandmother was a drunk too!!!
