It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: The clock read 1:17 AM on August 12, 2024. Patrolman Kevin Connor was helping Patrolman Antonio Flores with a traffic stop. This was on State Route 36 North at Allyson Lane. Suddenly, a gray 2015 Toyota Tundra sped by. It was moving about 60 or 70 MPH. Connor jumped into his patrol car. He wanted to catch up to the speeding truck. He found the Tundra and turned on his lights. The driver pulled over on 7th Avenue. This was near Memorial Parkway in Atlantic Highlands. Connor approached the driver. She was identified as Haley. Her boyfriend was also in the car. His father owned the Toyota Tundra. Patrolman Connor spoke with Haley and smelled alcohol. He saw signs she was not okay to drive. Haley said they came from 2nd Jetty in Sea Bright. She said she drank two beers before driving. Her boyfriend had been drinking too. Connor thought she was impaired. He asked another officer to help with sobriety tests. Patrolman Joseph LaBella arrived from Atlantic Highlands Police soon after. Officer LaBella began with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test. Next, Officer Connor told Haley to say the alphabet. She could not do it right. Then came the Walk and Turn Test. Haley failed to touch heel-to-toe and used her arms for balance. The last test was the One Leg Stand. Haley did not raise her foot the right way. She put her foot down too soon. Haley showed bad driving and smelled of booze. She said she drank alcohol that day. She also failed the tests. So, the officer arrested her. Her friend had to get out of the car. He needed to find a ride home since he was drunk too. Haley stood at the station as the officer read her rights. It was the Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators. She agreed to give breath samples. The Alcotest showed her BAC was 0.238%. This was almost three times the legal limit of 0.08%. Processing took a while, but Haley was finally released. She now awaits her day in court. Haley's night took a turn with several citations. She faced charges for operating under the influence. A second citation came because she was underage.
