It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: October 20, 2024, began with a call. It was around 3:20 AM. Deputies rushed to Yorkhouse Road in Beach Park. A Honda was reported in a ditch near the 12100 block. Deputy Savage got there fast, around 3:23 AM. The driver's father was already talking to deputies. The driver, Jacqueline, was 24 years old. She sat in her father’s truck back seat. He opened the door and asked her to step out. Jacqueline walked to the back. Suddenly, she lost her footing. She briefly tumbled into the ditch. He spoke with Jacqueline and smelled alcohol. He also noticed signs that she was not ok. Deputy Marquina soon arrived to help. Marquina said she came from North Chicago. She also said she drank alcohol before driving. Because they thought she was impaired, Marquina asked her to do tests. Jacqueline did not want to do them at first. She then agreed to let the Deputy check her eyes. Deputy Marquina began with the HGN test. After that, Jacqueline refused more tests. Jacqueline refused more sobriety tests. Deputy Marquina then asked her to take a breath test. Again, she said no. There had been a crash. The deputy smelled alcohol. Jacqueline admitted she had been drinking. She would not do all the exercises. Because of this, Jacqueline was arrested. The charge was driving under the influence. Handcuffed, Jacqueline sat in the back of the patrol car as her vehicle was towed away. Deputy Marquina drove her to the Lake County Jail. There, they booked her. She was later released.
