A seemingly routine welfare check in a rural area takes an unexpected turn when a property owner reveals deep concerns about a partner's controlling influence, leading to a definitive decision regarding property access. The incident began with a deputy responding to a report of a suspicious male walking, identified as Marcel Shazier. After offering him a ride to his girlfriend Jessie Stevens' residence, the deputy encountered Jessie exhibiting signs of impairment, including white powder residue in her nostrils, while attempting to operate a vehicle. Her subsequent inability to adequately perform standardized field sobriety exercises, such as demonstrating significant sway during the Modified Romberg Balance Test and issues with the Walk and Turn, led to her arrest for physical control of a motor vehicle. Following Jessie's arrest, her father, the property owner, expressed strong disapproval of Marcel, describing him as a "control freak" who "won't even get a job because he can't stand to be away from her." Citing past issues and concerns about his behavior, the father explicitly denied Marcel future access to his property, requiring deputies to facilitate Marcel's permanent departure from the premises and notify his probation officer. --- Transparency through the lens of the law.
