It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: At 7:57 PM on November 4, 2023, Patrolman Nicholas Dowling from the Deal Police Department received a call about loud music from a maroon Toyota Rav4 parked on Ocean Place in Loch Arbour. When he arrived, he found all the windows down. A woman was slumped in the driver’s seat, seemingly unconscious. Patrolman Dowling and Patrolman Jon Losquardo approached a woman later identified as 25-year-old Devyn Piotrowski. They woke her up and saw that her eyes were red and watery. The smell of alcohol was strong, and they found empty bottles of New Amsterdam vodka nearby. When asked where she had come from, Devyn said she was coming from Margate. She reluctantly showed her ID but insisted that she hadn’t done anything wrong. Devyn was asked to leave the car because the officers suspected she was impaired. She refused to get out despite multiple requests. Eventually, Patrolmen Dowling and Losquardo had to pull her from the vehicle. As she was on the ground, Patrolman Dowling put handcuffs on her. They led her to the patrol car, but as she was getting in, she spat out her gum, trying to aim it at the officers. Due to her refusal to cooperate, the officers did not conduct field sobriety tests. Bennett’s Towing towed her vehicle, which will be held for 12 hours as required by John’s Law. Devyn was then taken to the Deal Police Department for processing. Once there, Patrolman Velasquez conducted a more thorough search. Patrolman Losquardo informed her of her rights as a driver, and after hesitating, she agreed to provide breath samples. Devyn's Alcotest showed a blood alcohol content of 0.23%, nearly three times the legal limit of 0.08%. She was photographed and fingerprinted because she faced criminal charges along with motor vehicle tickets. After providing her breath samples, she was released to a sober adult who signed a liability warning for her. Devyn received criminal summonses for several charges. These included obstruction of justice, criminal mischief, and resisting arrest. Devyn received several motor vehicle tickets.
