On May 28, 2023, a crowd of people had gathered outside of a Toledo bar. Numerous officers from the Toledo Police Department and Ohio State Police had assembled and were getting ready to disperse the crowd. Without warning the 21-year-old driver of a Chevy Silverado crossed over the center lane of traffic and struck police unit 169 head-on. Officers standing outside of their vehicle gave chase as the Silverado came to rest a short distance away. Officers pulled the woman out of the truck and she admitted to drinking 3 alcoholic beverages. After completing field sobriety tests, she was arrested for DUI and placed in the back of a police vehicle. She told officers that she would not consent to a breath test, so instead of taking her to jail, Officer Wright decided to issue her a citation and release her to her mother. Her charges and the outcome of her case are discussed at the end of the video.
