On Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at 4:30 p.m., a police officer with the City of Breckenridge Hills Police Department conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Calvert Avenue and North Avenue on a 2014 Lexus driven by Je’von Henderson, 30, for a license plate violation and excessively tinted windows. During the stop, the officer noticed signs of possible intoxication and asked Henderson to exit the vehicle. The officer also placed a tire-deflation device in front of one of the vehicle’s tires. Henderson fled the scene in the vehicle, prompting the officer to pursue. Henderson ultimately crashed his vehicle near the intersection of Natural Bridge and IS 170. As the officer approached the scene, Henderson pointed a pistol at him and fired. Police returned fire, striking Henderson, who was then taken into custody. A search of the vehicle revealed a 9mm semiautomatic pistol, an AR-15-style pistol in the front passenger compartment, and a large quantity of suspected marijuana on the vehicle’s floorboard. 0:00 - Intro 0:08 - Description of Events 0:51 - Beginning of Bodycamera Footage 7:16 - Pursuit 11:00 - Shooting WARNING: The video may contain strong language as well as graphic images which may be disturbing to some people.
