In January 2009, 16-month-old Benjamin Kingan suffered fatal injuries while in the care of daycare worker Melissa Calusinski in Lincolnshire, Illinois. During questioning, detectives asked Melissa to explain what happened and walk them through her version of events. As she answered, detectives challenged parts of her story and asked her to show what she meant. They kept returning to the details of Benjamin’s injuries and whether her explanation fit what investigators had found.
