The vehicle was shifting toward the fog line as he followed it. He saw the driver keep the passenger side tires on the shoulder. The officer activated his lights to pull the car over. The driver stopped near St. Stephens Episcopal Church. Vandebrook radioed his location and approached the vehicle. The driver was a 26-year-old woman named Nikayla. While speaking with Nikayla and her passenger, Vandebrook smelled alcohol and something else that indicated they might have been smoking. Nikayla handed over her documents easily when asked. She told the officer they were headed to Wawa. Because he suspected she was drunk, Vandebrook asked her to get out of the car and perform field sobriety tests. Another officer, Patrolman Russell Moller, started on the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test. Nikayla then took the Walk and Turn test but failed to keep proper heel-to-toe steps. She also turned incorrectly and took the wrong number of steps. The last test was the One Leg Stand. She swayed slightly and didn’t count correctly. Because of her shaky driving, the smell of alcohol, her admission to drinking, and her poor test results, Nikayla was arrested. After her arrest, police searched her car and found an open bottle of tequila. Her vehicle was towed and held for 12 hours under the rules of John’s Law. Vandebrook took Nikayla to the police station for processing. She was read the standard statement for drivers and agreed to give breath samples. Moller used the Alcotest device, which showed her blood alcohol content was 0.11%. That’s over the legal limit of 0.08%. After processing, Nikayla was released into her brother’s care. Her brother signed the Potential Liability Warning. This allowed her to wait for her court date. Vandebrook gave her citations for DUI, reckless driving, failure to stay in her lane, and open container. Court records show that on April 16, 2024, Nikayla was found guilty of driving under the influence. Because of this, she had to install an ignition interlock device for seven months. She also spent 12 hours at a driver resource center and paid $690 in fines. Nikayla’s criminal record shows she was arrested in South Toms River on October 21, 2022. She was arrested again in Toms River on November 7, 2024. She also received multiple tickets for driving with a suspended registration. As of January 10, 2025, she has an outstanding warrant in Lakewood for allegedly leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage on November 22, 2024. 4:31 I'm not going to lie to you again I'm not going to lie to you If you enjoyed this BodyCamBust video.
