They were responding to a report of a collision between two vehicles. Officer Watkins first spoke with the 22-year-old driver of a 2020 Mercedes and the 29-year-old driver of a 2005 Jeep Wrangler, named Brandi. Both vehicles were visibly damaged. The Mercedes driver told Officer Watkins that the Jeep hit the passenger side of his car at a high speed while he was turning onto Parker Avenue from Lakeside Drive South. Officer Watkins spoke with Brandi, who said she had just finished her shift at the Moose Lodge on North Main Street in Forked River. As he talked to her, he smelled alcohol. When he asked if she had been drinking, Brandi admitted she had had some drinks earlier that night. Due to his concerns about her impairment, he requested that Brandi complete field sobriety tests. Officer Watkins began the evaluation with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test. He noted that the subject had trouble smoothly following his finger. There was a clear shake in her eyes at maximum deviation, and the nystagmus started before reaching the 45-degree mark. Next, he moved to the Walk and Turn test. During this test, Brandi didn’t keep her heel to toe on every step and frequently stepped off the line. The last test was the One Leg Stand. Here, she struggled to maintain her balance and failed to lift her foot correctly. After the traffic accident, officers noted the smell of alcohol. The woman admitted to drinking and struggled to complete the sobriety tests. As a result, she was arrested for driving while intoxicated. She was taken to the Lacey Township Police Department for processing. There, Officer Watkins informed her about the required procedures for drivers, but she refused to take a breath test. Once processed, she was released to her neighbor, having signed a form regarding potential liability. Officer Watkins issued her citations for operating under the influence, reckless driving, and refusing to take the breath test. 9:36 Mom is obviously embarrassed about her drunk daughter 9:48 how OLD is this girl!?!? 50 years old!?!? 20:19 Why does the eye test take so long?
