On October 27, 2024, South Plainfield Police Officers were dispatched to an overturned vehicle accident. Officer Dickerson arrived first and checked the vehicle for occupants. He then noticed a woman standing nearby, but she initially denied being in the vehicle. She also claimed to not speak English well enough to understand Officer Dickerson. When Officer McCoid arrived, the woman finally admitted to being the driver of the truck. EMS arrived and one of the EMTs spoke Spanish and acted as an interpreter. The 41-year-old driver of the truck indicated she had just finished working a 20-hour shift at a restaurant and she also admitted to consuming alcohol while at work. She was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, but could not complete them because of an apparent leg injury. She was then placed under arrest for Driving While Under the Influence. After being placed in the back of Officer Dickerson's patrol vehicle, the woman started crying. Once at the police station, she started vomiting and she refused to provide a breath sample. She was eventually transported to the hospital and after receiving medical treatment, she was released to a sober party. All of her charges are listed at the end of the video. All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
