Upon arrival, he first spoke with the truck driver. The driver mentioned that he had seen another vehicle swerving on Route 17 South since Mahwah. Officer Knudsen then approached the driver of a 2006 Pontiac G6, named Andrea. She informed him that the truck had hit her car on the passenger side while she was driving. Within minutes, Officer John Ward arrived at the scene. While talking to Andrea, he noticed signs that she might be impaired. She struggled to maintain her balance, did not follow the officers' orders, and tried to leave several times. Although she was asked to do field sobriety tests, her refusal to cooperate led to her arrest, as the officer suspected she was impaired. Officer Ward arrested Andrea while her boyfriend recorded the scene and tried to intervene. Andrea resisted by tightening her arms and body, and she kicked an officer as they put her in the patrol car. Her vehicle was impounded for a mandatory 12-hour hold due to John’s Law, and she was later taken to the Ridgewood Police Department for processing. At the Ridgewood Police Department, Andrea was informed about the Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators, but she declined to provide breath samples for testing. She was released to a sober adult after they signed the Potential Liability Warning form for her. Due to her resistance to arrest and assault on an officer, she received two criminal summonses for allegedly resisting arrest and obstructing justice. Officer Knudsen also issued her traffic summonses for operating under the influence, refusing to take breath samples, and not having her driver insurance card. Court records reveal that on November 3, 2023, the obstruction charge was dropped. The resisting arrest charge was changed to "prohibited conduct – 1st offense," resulting in a $150 fine. Andrea pleaded guilty to operating under the influence and refusing breath samples. She paid fines of $540 and $440 for those charges. As part of her plea deal, Andrea must use an ignition interlock device for three months and complete 12 hours at an intoxicated driver resource center. The citation for not having a driver insurance card was also dismissed through this agreement. 0:48 So she doesn't know who sideswiped her car? 1:02 She says she doesn't know who side swiped her 9:00 Einstein crashed and is drunk and calls the cops 18:30 It's not his forced rodeo??? 41:30 I’m not a drug dealer…I’m a good person. 50:17 Oh My Head!!!
