April 17th 2024 around 11:18 p.m. patrolman George and perellis with the Randolph Township Police Department were dispatched to the scene of a motor vehicle accident involving the 2020 Audi Q5 that had struck a pole on Park Avenue he arrived on scene and noticed that the Audi had driven into a ditch after striking a pole the airbags had deployed and the sole occupant of the vehicle was still inside he made contact with the driver who was identified as 18-year-old Juliana sergeant mcaren and patrolman Carbonaro Gro and delo also arrived on scene to assist shortly afterwards let me see I know my nose is bleeding but I don't know what else is anything else hurting um my head your head but I don't want to talk about that I don't want to talk about what's hurting it's going to make me well I just want to make sure I have an ambulance coming okay all right all right I'm going to try to open this I wait hold on I don't think I need an ambulance yes you do you definitely do okay into the pole as he was speaking with Juliana he detected the odor of Al alcohol and noticed other signs of impairment based on his suspicion of impairment Juliana was asked to perform field sobriety exercises I call my okay just just have a seat let's start with just having a have a seat nobody's taking your phone right now to the movie I just want can you not can you not like put me like into an ambulance I'm just telling you have to sit here can I just sit here 100% I just don't want you to fall here with all so she said that found her in the car door was kind of jammed I opened up the door got her out she said that she was driving and her friend she's on the phone with says please check out Instagram at which time she took her eyes off the road looked at Instagram um I I don't know I don't know I I asked her 18 I asked her I said um she's from PA no PA or newey New Jersey wait what oh yeah I need to of my friend Juliana Juliana you live in yes was that this car my mom probably got a she called me for time she prob prob got R from the car she's probably going to be here like any minute are you on any medication you lerg to any medication um I am but I don't my mom knows I don't do you have any medical history Med problems if you're being treated of those so we understand what's going on so that we can make sure you're okay who's who's that woman Mom oh she's not responding nor ma'am hello how are you I'm off syella just you know the camera's recording not yet um so I spoke with Juliana I I got her out of the car cuz she when I got here she was still in the car the the door was kind of jammed so I I opened the door for her she came out she told me that uh she was on the phone with her friend and her friend said said hey check check Instagram out so while she was driving she said that she looked at Instagram at which time right now we're we're where we at is that she's not very Cooperative with us I don't know what her problem is I I don't can maybe you can you know maybe if she sees you so you know calm down a little bit comes back to this house yeah that car the the ram was cuz it's possible she may be doing some substance because Mom said she has right so just go over yes so essentially she told me you told sge what she told me this right here looks like oh yeah the rou already got all that did you I didn't do anything I got her out cuz she was I got here she couldn't open the door the door's kind of jammed I opened the door she was like iophobia I just need to get out got her out she I said what happened she said I was on the phone with perelis observed the lack of smooth Pursuit distinct and sustained nagus at maximum deviation and the onset of nagus prior to 45° he did not observe vertical nagus the second exercise size was the walk and turn test during the walk and turn test Juliana did not touch Heel To Toe on each step and turned improperly the final exercise was the one leg stand test and Juliana displayed a lack of balance while putting her foot down before the test was complete all right so listen right now based on what we have we got to run you some test okay so now you're going to have to cooperate okay placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated officers found open containers inside the vehicle patrolman emperis rode in the ambulance Rigg as Juliana was transported to Morristown medic Center for further evaluation Juliana consented to a blood draw at 1:14 a.m. the following day and the blood draw was administered at approximately 1:48 a.m. after she was cleared by the hospital staff Juliana was later released to her mother pending her court appearance in the Randolph Township Municipal Court your hands behind you back back you need to go to the hospital for injuries you wish to go to hospital no I don't know I hurts really bad yeah you think you should go to the hospital making me feelsy like I can't think straight like I don't know what's going on right my bring to the hospital yeah um do the down like back of the hand bring her up to the rigs off put her up onto the stretcher and one of you guys rid one of you guys follows we'll have to do the blood drill at the and the presence of thcc a marijuana metabolite however the blood draw was administered approximately 2 hours after the crash and Juliana had also indicated to the officer that she had consumed two or three alcoholic beverages earlier that day patrolman emperis issued her the following summonses operating under the influence operating Under the Influence underage reckless driving careless driving traffic on marked Lanes use of handheld wireless telephones and open container have you been at the hospital before again anything tell me what's hurting you now right across your forehead yeah okay obviously you know you injured or killed someone right so in this case you're the only occupant of the vehicle there's nobody else in the car you didn't hit anyone you just hit objects and your car ended up in in the [Music] ditch so in this case what happens is it's essentially you get a ticket for DWI and you go to court okay now sometimes they do an interlock device know what an interlock devices no so a lot of times what happens is they'll install a device in your car for a certain period of time and before you blow you drive correct I'm assuming you've never been arrested before and you never had a DWI cuz I'm I'm only asking because if you had like prior DWI there's more severe penalties but obviously you got to go to court everything you know innocent until proven guilty you know what I mean yes you replaced under arrest due to the totality of circumstances and the tests okay the tests indicate to me that you're under the influence I don't know of what most likely alcohol okay so you're going to hospital because you appear to be hurt so before anything else is addressed we want to make sure you're okay all right cuz I'm definitely not a doctor Adam's excellent excellent EMT probably one of the best but still he can only do so much in the field okay so once once you said that you're hurt and obviously based on what I saw when I got there and the condition of your car it's probably best what you know that you said you know that we're taking to the hospital just so they can evaluate you okay cuz they're the experts do your nose hurt the airbag comes out and hit you in the nose that's why your no is going to be a little the good thing is that you had your SE on because if you didn't have your seatleon it would have been a lot worse I saw the car has Pennsylvania plates oh my God what's that my dad own he lives in PA makes sense you have any siblings said two of you what the two of you yeah i h my you're an ambulance we don't allow that here ambul do that work D DWI okay is in New Jersey other states are different but in New Jersey it's essentially you get a traffic ticket and a court date okay again if if you hit someone walking their dog or someone riding their bicycle it's a little bit different but right now what we have right now BWI typically how it works if you weren't going to hospital you come back to our Police Headquarters you blow into the machine we get a reading okay and then you someone comes signs for you and you're released and then you go home so from there from there m like based on that if we had that situation you're talking about or right now right now well we're going to hospital make sure you're okay okay at the hospital they're going to ask you if you consent to give blood okay if you don't consent to give blood so they can check cuz you're not doing the breathalyzer you're not coming to headquarters to the breathalizer go to the hospital if you don't consent then we have to get a warrant to essentially get the blood and then from there on you are released so your mom is probably going to come to the hospital and that's pretty much it then you go to court why don't do the breath we don't have a portable breath Aller either if you weren't going to hospital you would be coming with us to Police Headquarters you'd be doing the breath lizer and which time someone would come like your mom sign for you take responsibility for you for the next 12 hours that you're so what did you do no no your mom showed up I have no idea I'm assuming something to do with your car cuz you didn't even call the the police from what I understand your car sent it was too quick I your right no I no no I'm not saying why you didn't call I'm saying it happened and then your car sent an notification that you've been in an accident and that's what we got that your car was involved in an accident they gave us which area was in at which time I found you and if you remember you were kind of freaking out in the car cuz you wanted to get out and the door was jammed so I got you out I don't know if you remember that and that's it shortly after your mom shut up we didn't call her cuz we you know what I mean probably something to do with the car Le do you remember getting in the accident you remember the accident happening just remember talk to my friend on the phone look at this Instagram story I pulled it up was looking at the road and looked at it wasn't looking around looking wasn't looking at the road and then bam airbags were off and you remember that happening you remember the airbags sorry when after you're done with the hospital when you're released there go [Music] you good all righty you may not be able to get out that door no court records indicate that on August 14 2024 Juliana was found guilty of operating Under the Influence underage use of handheld wireless telephones an open container her license was revoked for 90 days she had to spend 12 hours at an intoxicated River resource center and performed 20 days of community service and she had to pay a total of $913 in fines the other three citations were dismissed as part of a plea agreement court records also indicate that on January 5th 2024 Juliana had previously been ticketed for speeding in Branchburg New Jersey yep thank you [Music] y yep
