and ba I see her start driving and then I saw the airbags were deployed and then she stopped in the road with the hazards are you okay does anybody need first aid we're okay we're okay so I was trying to pull over and then I didn't stop pulling I rolled into the you rolled into the pole we hit it hit the around 430 a.m. on August 27th 2023 sleo Shan Lucas with the Beach Haven Police Department was driving home after his shift as he headed north on Bay Avenue he witnessed a white 2016 Honda Civic Striker utility pole or the sidewalk next to core Brothers Between 8th Street and Taylor Avenue the vehicle started driving away but then stopped in the vicinity of 9th Street and Bay Avenue he exited his vehicle and noticed that the air bags had deployed inside the Honda Civic soon after Pachel woman Ashley stall arrived on scene to investigate pulling over I don't really know like that we just I was trying to pull over okay we were supposed to go home at 2: and weide like set for us two and then just never showed up so then we were like okay do you have your license registration Insurance did they hit somebody no no it like sidewalk by the post okay you guys can step out of the vehicle is it safe do you feel like on that side for you to come [Music] out yeah you're going to need your insurance and your registration is this was this hit somebody hit this car no no not this one's first aid no no complaints of pain right she's okay yes patro woman stall made contact with the driver who was identified as 21-year-old Taylor Taylor and her passenger both had wristbands from bird and Betty and Taylor was exhibiting indicators of impairment patro woman stall asked Taylor for her documents and then asked her to exit the vehicle and perform field sobriety exercises BAS on her indicators of impairment as long as she's okay I just want to make sure you're okay she saying she's okay okay so I'm just going to do a couple tests okay if you have any problems of your back ankles anything that would stop you from being able to do this test I don't know what the test say so I don't know so I don't think so do you have any problems with like your back your ankles knees knees I two knee surgeries okay but you can stand properly you feel comfortable standing or okay all right so we're going to do the starting position it's going to be hands at your side feet together so I how you're going to start anytime I tell you to begin the test that's your starting position okay so first we're going to do the walk and turn okay it's going to be nine Heel To Toe steps counting out loud with your arms at your side on your ninth step you're going to do a series of small choppy steps and then you're going to do nine steps back counting out loud until you hit nine I will demonstrate okay so hands at your side can you just shine a light for me yeah so she can see me Lucas can you just shut off my emergency lights please uh he's going to have to shut off yours before we To Toe on each step took an incorrect number of steps and failed to keep her arms at her sides the second exercise was the oneel leg stand test during the one leg stand test Taylor failed to raise her foot in the proper fashion while putting her foot down before the test was complete the final exercise was the horizontal Gay's ni stymus test and she observed indicators of impairment Okay so like I said hands at your sides you're going to do nine Heel To Toe steps make sure that your heel hits the front of your toe counting out loud so it's going to look like this one 2 3 four when you proceed to nine you're going to do a series of choppy steps turn yourself back around do the nine Heel To Toe steps back until you reach the end do you understand these instructions okay you may begin you're your side keep your eye down at your toe do you understand these instructions yeah and count till when just until I tell you to stop how long can that possibly be 30 seconds I'll give you 20 if you're sobriety exercises Taylor was placed under arrest for driving Under the Influence patroman stall transported Taylor to the beach Haven Police Department for further processing while her passenger was also given a courtesy transport so that she could wait in the lobby so ma'am just due to my test I'm going to place under arrest for DWI tonight okay or this morning so just turn around put your hands breast samples including the test results will be made upon your request a copy of that record will be made available to you after you have provided samples of your breath for testing you have the right at your own expense to have a person or physician of your own selection take independent samples of your breath blood or urine for independent testing if you refuse to provide samples of your breath you will be issued a separate summons for the refusal a court may find you guilty of both refusal and driving while intoxicated if a court finds you guilty of the refusal you will be subject to various penalties including licensed revocation of up to 20 years a fine of up to $2,000 installation of an ignition interlock and referral to an intoxicated driver Resource Center these penalties may be in addition to penalties imposed by the court for any other office or any other offense of which you are found guilty you have no legal right to have an attorney physician or anyone else present for the purpose of taking the breast samples you have no legal right to refuse to give or delay giving samples of of your breath any response from you that is ambiguous or conditional in any respect to my request that you provide breast samples will be treated as a refusal to submit to breast testing even if you agree to the test but then do not follow my instructions do not properly perform the back level of 0.07% but this test was administered more than 1 hour after the crash so there is a possibility that she was over the legal limit of 0. 8% at the time of the crash after the officers finished processing Taylor she was released to her father after he signed the potential shiv warning form on Taylor's behalf she was issued the following citations operating Under the Influence careless driving failure to report an accident leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage and failure to possess driver registration hi there hi so that's a so right now she's under a 20-minute observation period she can't touch her face she did get into her car the police station right now trying to figure this out we got a call that you have a cardiac with a 50-year-old male with chest pains no it's not me I have a 21-year-old who got into a car accident hit the steering wheel CU her airbags de floyed and she's sitting right here I don't think she's all right I'll get right back to you Dad is that somewhere else I here this is our dispatcher dad I have a 21-year-old one car accident with airbags deployed I don't have a 50-year-old at all me it happened at Ninth and Bay but we have her at the station she said that her chest hurts from the steering wheel no that that totally came off different yeah they refused on see and then when they came back they said their chest
