uh where do you live on May 11th 2024 around 6:05 p.m. patrolman Randy Yik with the West Milford Police Department was dispatched from a motor vehicle collision involving a 2011 Honda court at the ciser road Trestle when he arrived on scene he noticed that a tow truck was already there and that the vehicle had sustained severe frontend damages there was airbag deployment inside the vehicle the driver was identified as 21-year-old Alexis and she informed patrolman Yik that she struck The Trestle on the driver's side while she was headed south on CER road towards State Route 23 as a result of this Collision the vehicle sustained disabling damages you have anybody coming or no yeah yeah you're you got here no I appreciate it Bud stupid shift change and then the other guys are on a domestic documents and returned to his patrol car to prepare a crash Jock's card for her while he was seeking permission from his supervisor to authorize a courtesy trans transport for Alexis he noticed that there was a bulge in her sweatshirt to indicate that she may be concealing something a subsequent search of her persons revealed the presence of a 750ml bottle of smaf vodka that was mostly empty based on his suspicion of impairment Alexis was asked to perform field sobriety exercises and then uh no pockets nothing like that okay about that huh it's alcohol okay do you want to take it yeah yes anything to drink this [Music] morning [Music] so we are going to P troman nef started with the horizontal gaze nagus hgn test during the hgn test patrolman nevic observed the lack of smooth Pursuit distinct and sustained nystagmus at maximum deviation and the onset of nagus prior to 45° vertical gaze nagus was also observed indicating a high level of impairment the second exercise was the walk and turn turn test during the walk and turn test Alexis did not touch Heel To Toe on each step and took an incorrect number of steps the third exercise was the one leg stand test during the one leg stand test Alexis failed to raise her foot in the proper fashion and put her foot down multiple times before the test was complete the final exercise was the modified Romberg balance test where she estimated the passage of 30 seconds in 33 seconds keep following tip of pen eyes and eyes only well eyes and eyes only okay go up this time okay so this is what we're going to do um I'm going to have um yeah okay so you don't have that okay um it would just be the levels yeah perfect um as far as if you don't mind me asking what you do for work um I'm unemployed unemployed okay but there's nothing that would keep you from walking a straight line no injuries to the knees hips anything like that awesome perfect uh I know I see you're wearing the Ugg slippers yeah all right are they okay to walk straight line in and be able to balance it and stuff like that I think so you think so okay at any point in time you feel like they're not you can always you could always let me know and then we could always remove one of those slippers okay um all right so this is what we're going to do now that we got those uh questions out of the way um I'm going to have you go into the starting position okay the starting position is going to look like such all right you're going to put your left foot on the white line and then you going to take your right foot and put it right in front Heel To Toe leaving your hands down at your Sid you're going to stay in this position until I finish my instructions and tell you to begin the test do you understand y perfect so when I tell you to begin you are going to take nine Heel To Toe steps okay okay it's going to and you're it's going to look like such go right back into that position if you fall out of it it's fine no you can go right back in it's fine there you go so you're going to take nine Heel To Toe steps when I tell you to begin it's going to look like so one 2 3 you're going to go all the way to nine I'm doing three for demonstrational purposes all right once you get once you get to that ninth step you're going to take a series of small small steps you're going to turn yourself around going back into this position and then taking nine Heel To Toe steps back to your starting position just like so one 2 3 so on and so forth until you hit nine again I'm doing three for demonstrational purposes the entire time you do this test I need to keep your hands down at your sides you're going to be counting your steps out loud and you're going to be looking at your feet and following get right back into that position for me perfect so you're okay okay good all right um based on the motor vehicle crash the odor of alcohol and her inability to perform the field sobriety exercises satisfactorily Alexis was placed under arrest for operating Under the Influence her vehicle was impounded by for a mandatory 12-hour hold under Jon's law patrolman Yi placed her in handcuffs and initially transported her to the blooming Dale police Department because the ALCO test machine at the West Milford Police Department was not working properly I'm going to have you turn around face my car for me all I'm going to have you have put hands behind your back for me okay right now you're being place under arrest for driving while intoxicated okay so again like I asked you before anything on your person that I need to know about anything that's going allowed to the vehicle and you're not going to know where it is yes it's impound it's it's impounded right now yes so you're 12 hours from the actual arest time which would be 650 tonight you'd be up bud at the Bloomingdale Police Department the standard statement for motor vehicle operators was read to her and she agreed to submit breath samples for testing her Alco test results indicated a back level of 0.18% which was more than double the legal limit of 0.08% once they finished processing her Alexis was transported back to the West Milford Police Department for further processing she was eventually released to her grandmother pending her court appearance after she signed the potential sherlly warning form on Alexis's behalf but Roman dvic issued her the following summonses operating Under the Influence reckless driving traffic on Mark Lanes an open container did you respond to my dad yes thank you how's he doing doing great yeah is he dude if you didn't he was there for almost a day and a half yeah if you didn't make that call for the lift I'm glad he's doing better man he's still in the hospital he's doing great yeah that he didn't he didn't look right at all to me that's why he had a stroke and he was having crazy he was seizing over and over okay so by getting him there they were able to stop the seizures good I could actually go feed him good and we see in
