was not involved no okay I received a phone call from her and all she could say was that she was hit and I used her location to get here there was no car other car when I got here okay she's in the car she's in my vehicle and this is you say your wife girlfriend girlfriend girlfriend okay I'm going to talk to her and we'll see what we can do all right for 4536 County around the 21 a.m. on July 20th 2023 officer Carolina copage with the chadam Township Police Department was on patrol in the vicinity of Southern Boulevard and Fairmount Avenue when she observed to Vehicles stopped in the roadway on Fairmount Avenue she stopped behind the 2018 niece on Altima and exited her patrol car to investigate she made contact with a male who informed her that his girlfriend had been involved in a car crash about 30 minutes earlier and that he came there after using the location feature on her phone to locate her the driver of the niece on Ultima was identified as Jessica and she was seated in her boyfriend's truck yeah it's going to be confirmed MBA we got a plate when you're ready yeah it's going to be New Jersey Fox 44 kilo x-ray Papa yeah all right she's uh back here yeah she right here all right hello Hi how are you good how are you all right first off are you injured at all no I'm not no just shaking up up a little bit okay so what what happened um they strove and I I don't was happening she is obviously very shaken up let's start with this what's your first name my name is Jessica Jessica all right so do you know how long ago this the accident happened she called me roughly 30 minutes ago 30 minutes okay so which way were you coming from U um from um Mor okay on the street B she was babysitting tonight yeah okay but you were coming more sound like do you know direction um I was going through uh Westfield from I I don't know like Northeast I have no idea okay but like you came through the light correct the traffic light down there on Southern Boulevard I have no idea I'm sorry I really I I I think so okay so with the accident what what what happened I was driving I think I got like hit by the right side or then left side I have no idea um um do you know what hit you or what you hit a car was it a car or a truck it was a car okay all right just uh hang tight just give me one second right is I'm assuming everything is in in your car yes okay do coming down this way where was the uh how did the car hit you um I was going straight uh it came like I don't know sorry uh left side and that hit me so it was coming down which way was it coming up the street this way I was coming this way it came from I guess the uh right side okay so if you're coming this way you're saying it hit you from the right side yes yes okay H how um I was as coming from the I don't know like going straight forward it was coming from the side mhm that's I guess I don't know well I'm just trying to understand cuz you say left side you say right side so I'm just trying to figure out Direction wise you understand um yeah it was coming from the left side and it hit me so it was coming driving this direction correct I was coming straight through the uh uh uh whatever it's called and it's it uh came left side and hit me so you guys were going opposite directions as she approached Jessica and asked her to tell her what happened she believed that she had struck another vehicle headon however the damages to her vehicle were mainly on the front passenger side bumper instead of the front driver side bumper so her account of events did not seem plausible Jessica told officer copich that she was coming from moristown but she had to rely on her boyfriend to provide her documents to the officer Sergeant muta blanford arrived on scene shortly afterwards to assist based on their suspicion of impairment Jessica was asked to perform field sobriety exercises I was coming what do you mean you guys I was coming straight so you were going One Direction and the car was going opposite direction yes okay and do you know where on your car it hit you my bumper frer okay all right just give me one sec okay so this should be her insurance info here this Li right sorry there license and then like I said this should be all right here you just uh get everything and I need the registration as well I will I'll um I believe this might be a uh another thing we might have to uh run through testing okay only reason is she says she's coming from morrist town boyfriend said he was babysitting but she can't articulate at all what happened I'm like which way were you going I was going this way all right what hit you I don't know it was a car which way was it going oh it was going on my right side no it was going on my left side okay what did it hit it hit the front left side what this is her car right here yeah did she hit somebody she's claiming somebody hit her but she's claiming the car that hit her the second vehicle no and she's claiming the car that hit her was coming this direction so I don't know how a car com in this direction would have hit the that side of her car you don't see any damage anywh else I didn't get to do a la yet that's the the boyfriend he saw her her location and he came here cuz he he got a call from her she was distru said she got into an accident he had her location boyfriend so he just came call the police he did you did right I did not call the police I I was coming out Fairmount I saw the car so I don't know if you guys called prior to that or not did not know Jessica I I was trying to I got here probably five minutes before you did gotcha I just saw I I assume that you two got into an accident I just saw the car parked in the street and I wasn't sure I um she had called her friend before me and said that when she pulled over the other car just drove off okay so I'm just going to be blatantly honest with you it looks like that side was hit right yeah that I mean that's where most of the damage is I would say that's probably correct yes yeah so the the only thing is for a car to be traveling and that side to be hit that that's yeah that's an interesting spot to end up in you know um I'm going to see if there's any damage to anything along the side just because like I said that that's that's a lot of damage just because um that is all her information I believe that's the correct insurance card as well okay and I I know I asked her as well too but but um you know her better um does she complain of any pain anything injury wise she hasn't said that she's injured but she's also as you can see very shaken up so I don't she looks fine to me mhm but again like she's usually able to articulate what happens and whatnot so I am she's still I believe in a little bit of shock okay gotcha like I said I asked her if she was injured at all she didn't um mention anything but I just I just wasn't sure um if if you want to just hang out here like I said just uh just if you could just try to stay the walk and turn test Jessica did not touch Heel To Toe on each step turned improperly and displayed a lack of balance the third exercise was the one leg stand test during the oneel leg stand test Jessica failed to raise her foot in the proper fashion and put her foot down before the test was complete don't move your head all right so we're when I move my finger don't do this just move your field sobriety exercises just Jessica was placed under arrest after she was placed under arrest and placed in the patrol car Sergeant blanford located a nearby utility pull with damages indicative of being struck by her niece on Ultima her vehicle was impounded by DeFalco automotive and towing for a 12-hour hold according to John's law officer copage transported Jessica to the chadam Township Police Department for further processing come over here all and Jessica do you know what you hit with your car I'm going to go I did a a quick walk I didn't see anything all right here we can go over vehicle causing property damage as a result of being found guilty she had to use an ignition inlock device for 3 months spent 12 months at an intoxicated driver resource center and pay a total of $830 in fins the other three citations were dismissed as part of a plea agreement thank you so this way and then to the left yep good all right so it's good that's we don't need any other paperwork okay
