Around 7:55 a.m. on March 1st, 2025, patrolman Andrew Slot with the Lacy Township Police Department arrived on scene at the Wawa 800 Lacy Road to assist patrolman Kevin Tren with a DWI investigation involving Amariah Keith after he assisted with the field sobriety exercises and Amariah was placed under arrest for driving under the influence. Her girlfriend, Marissa Valdez, arrived on scene and appeared distraught over Amorai's arrest. The officers told Marissa that her girlfriend would be processed at the station and that she could meet her at the station once she was released. I live all the way in Mills. >> Okay. >> I called out of work and when I can't like I just started my new job because I'm a home health aid. >> Okay. >> And everything. She's trying to find a job and everything. Where the [ __ ] are her friends? >> I don't know. >> They were in the the last time that I seen they were in the garden. >> I don't know where the [ __ ] they are. She's going to back out. [Applause] Heat. Heat. [Applause] I know. Well, I think that's what the >> vape >> the vape pad is. Yeah. [Applause] >> All right. We'll see you over there. All right. [Applause] The officers allowed Marissa to drive away and she parked her vehicle in the parking lot of the police station nearby. The Trowman Slot remained at the scene along with Sergeant Michael Verie as they were waiting for the tow truck. A few minutes later, Marissa walked over from the police station parking lot back to the Wawwa and made contact with the officers again. As Sergeant Verwe was speaking with Marissa, he detected the odor of alcohol and suspected that she may be impaired as well. Patrolman Slot proceeded to administer the field sobriety exercises on Marissa. >> So, I guess she called to pick her up. Does she think she can get through that way? >> I don't know. Definitely bring her phone with her cuz know that she's going to actually actually go over there. Surf sides at 7:30 in the morning. What's in that bag down there? >> It's just trash. LCP 113 us. [Applause] So the the girlfriend said that she had a car load of friends >> who >> see you there. They're on the back side of waiting for an Uber. >> Yeah, that's probably where she wanted to go pick them up. [Applause] This guy playing chess over here. He parked in our lot, went to Wawa, so he can make a left out of here. >> That's not the No, it was a Dodge that almost made the left in there. >> No, he's into the Tesla right there. He came in. >> Oh, okay. >> He walked over there and got right back in his car. He's used a lot, so he I bet he makes a left here cuz you can make a left out of ours. >> I thought he was I thought you were talking about the the Tundra, the gray Tundra there. Oh, >> yeah. That was definitely this guy was pulling out now. [Applause] Yep. Chess. It's a good move. I don't think I've ever seen anybody do that before. [Applause] >> I've seen him cut through the parking lot to come in the back entrance. I've seen that a million times. Is >> that what you said? No, the the people who turned down our our lane to come into [Applause] like partying back there, huh? [Applause] >> Going for a towel, right? >> Yeah. [Applause] >> He headquarters. Who's the rose to the toe? [Applause] Accurate to is up next. >> Is is up next? Did she not call for the toe? >> Ruth. >> That's her way of >> telling you next. Do you need to tell my fighting copy earlier? If you do >> burn for John. >> Yep. >> I'll do it. >> Wondering. It's Saturday morning. Did she even make it to the first test? >> I'm sorry. >> Did she even make it to the first test? >> No. No. Started up started crying. Said couldn't do it. He tried the one leg stand. She tried that a couple times and didn't get anywhere. >> HGN, she wouldn't hold her head straight or still >> going to be high. But I was able to get the the lack of uh lack of smooth pursuit. [Applause] [Applause] Did you just grab me a couple more of these bags? >> Got like three more. >> I don't I don't like those. >> Yeah, but >> those we can just load up and throw out. >> Just put them all Put them all in one bag and then take a picture of them and throw them away. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Otherwise, they're going to I mean, >> usually don't keep alcohol, especially old >> 117 and destroy it. >> Yeah, I would I would take the >> uh I mean, it's >> the empty 12-pack, >> the empty 12-pack, and just freaking put all the empties in in there. >> There, too. Yeah, but you're just going to bring it back to headquarters to photograph and to throw away anyway. So, >> doesn't matter how you bring it back unless like unless you're collecting something for actual evidence. >> Those two you can put in one bag just to just to bring it back. We're going to it's going to get destroyed anyway. >> He doesn't want that in the the evidence room. >> He was complaining about the fish tank the other day. >> Fish tank. >> Yeah. He's got a somebody somebody threw a fish tank at somebody. So now they charge them with weapons offenses. >> Have it spill all over your car. >> What can I What can I do for you? >> Nothing. No, I partied. >> Okay. What's up? >> Nothing. I'm just so worried about her. >> Just go wait in the the lobby. There's no sense in you standing out here being cold. >> The car's getting towed. Shut up. Is it? >> Yeah. >> Is it getting repoed? >> Not repo. Oh, impounded >> 12 hours >> because she's strong. >> Yeah. >> Where did you park? >> Just go >> go out this way. Go in the headquarters lane there and park right in the front. And you >> wait in your car. Wait in the lobby. >> We're going to be out of here in a couple minutes. where I parked over here. >> Can I get my arrival? >> You parked in the Waw Wa part? >> No. No, I parked in >> behind behind police headquarters. >> Yes. >> Where the signs say do not enter or authorized vehicles only. You went in that way. >> I didn't go through the do not enter. I was too scared. >> Okay. We didn't want you guys there. until you parked at Waw Wa. >> I'm just worried. >> Okay, >> that's why I watched all the way here as far >> Hey, we can't have you talking to him right now. So, it's really no sense of just standing here and being cold. a breathalyzing test. >> We're talking about something different. Another one. Something different. >> Just tried to make it left on the wrong lane. You haven't had anything to drink cuz now that Now that we're standing here, I smell alcohol on you, too. They've been drinking if Britney. >> Oh, I can smell it on your breath now that you're standing close to me. I'm watching you stand here. You going to pass the priority test? I don't think we're going to put your stuff down. [Applause] felt there. >> Are you having any problem with your eyes? >> I have I've been having high pressure. So, >> okay. >> My vision is kind of >> Okay. >> But >> what I want you to do, I want you to put your legs together, hands at your side, maintain that position till I'm done with the test. Okay. >> The first field sobriety exercise was the horizontal gaze nestagmus HGN test. During the HGN test, Patrolman Sloda observed the lack of smooth pursuit, distinct and sustained nestagmas at maximum deviation, and the onset of neistagmas prior to 45°. The second exercise was the walk and turn test. During the walk and turn test, Marissa did not touch heel to toe on each step and raise her arms for balance. The final exercise was the one leg stand test. During the one leg stand test, Marissa failed to raise her foot in the proper fashion and put her foot down before the test was complete. >> All right, you see the tip of my finger? >> Yes. >> I want you to follow the tip of my finger with your eyes and your eyes alone. All right, keep your head perfectly still. [Music] Keep your head perfectly still. Okay. >> I'm sorry. >> All right. Turn your head just a tiny bit. Make it straight with mine. Leave it right there. Okay. [Applause] You see it? >> See it? >> All right. What I want you to do, get take your hands out of your pockets. I want to put your right foot in front of your left. All right. Maintain that position. Paul's done explaining the test. >> For me, that's terrible. >> What's What's terrible for you? I'm on city like just as a person. I don't do it. >> All right. Hands at your side. Maintain that position till we're done. I'm done explaining the test. All right. What I want you to do, I want you to take a series of steps. >> Foot in front of the other. >> Yep. Touching each step. C. Hang on. Maintain that position till I'm done explaining the test. All right. >> Good. >> You're going to count each step out loud. One, two, three, and so forth. When you get to till you get to step nine. >> All right. When you get >> See, >> I I'm not even lying. Like, I'm on balance. >> When you get to step nine, you're going to take >> I'm going to stay on this yellow line. >> If that's better for you, that's fine. [Applause] I didn't tell you to begin the test yet. All right. Okay. Get back into this start position. Right foot in front of the left, touching heel to toe, arms at your sides. Maintain that position till I'm done explaining the test. Do you understand? >> Yes. >> Okay. I'll start from the beginning. All right. Right foot in front of your left, touching heel to toe, hands at your side. Maintain that position till I'm done explaining the test. You're going to take series of steps counting each step out loud. One, two, three, and so forth. >> When you get to nine, you'll be in this position, >> right? >> You're going to take a series of small steps, pivoting on your left foot. >> Oh, do I start yet? Don't start yet. >> Okay. >> And you're going to do nine steps back. One, two, three. >> Oh my god. Are you going to tell me the alphabet backwards, too? >> Do you understand the test? >> Yeah, I understand the test. >> Okay. Whenever you're ready, you can begin the step. Go ahead and take your pen out of your pocket. [Applause] >> I'm not balanced. I'm Hispanic. I guess I can't. >> Right foot in front of your left. >> Please don't arrest me. I'm I swear I just came here for my girlfriend. >> And I understand that. If you passed all the field sobriety tests, you won't you won't be arrested. >> Okay. >> But you're you're not doing too well so far. >> I know I'm not. How are you doing that? Go >> ahead. No, I can't. Might as well arrest me. >> I got one more test for you. All right. >> And I might get complicated like this. >> Put your hands at your side, feet touching like just like that. Maintain that position till I'm done explaining the test. Do you understand? >> Yes. >> All right. Whichever leg that you feel comfortable with. All right. I want you to raise it approximately 6 in off the ground. Maintain that position till I'm done explaining the test. You understand? Okay. >> Whichever leg that you feel comfortable with, maintain the position until I'm done explaining the test. I have I'm not done explaining the test yet. >> Oh, >> yeah. >> All right. So, I'm >> I'm raising my right foot. You're going to 6 in off the ground. I'm going to count out loud 1,00 1,002 1,003 and so forth until I tell you to stop. Do you understand the test? >> I'm just saying. >> Okay. Go ahead. Whichever leg do you feel comfortable with? >> How much did you have to drink tonight? >> Like last night it's just wearing off. >> Which is fine. How much did you have to drink last night? >> Last night I want to say like I'm going to keep it honest with you. I'm not a liar. >> So, >> okay. >> Shots. >> Shot. How many shots? Was it like >> four >> four shots? >> Yeah. >> And how long? And what was the last time you >> Oh, that was that that was last night. >> What What time last night? >> Um, what time is it now? >> 8:00 in the morning. 8:30 in the morning. >> 3:00 a.m. >> All right. So, you had four shots at 3:00 a.m. >> Okay. All right. Um All right. Go ahead and go ahead and put your arms behind your back. >> Based on her erratic driving, the odor of alcohol, her admission to consuming alcohol earlier that day, Marissa was placed under arrest for driving under the influence. Her vehicle was impounded for a 12-hour hold according to John's law. Patrolman slow transported Marissa to the Lacy Township Police Department for further processing. >> All right, I'm going to place you under arrest for driving intoxicated. Where's your car? >> Is it in our station? >> Yes. [Music] >> My keys are right there. >> Where are they? >> Right there in my phone. My wallet. My >> Where's Yeah. Where's your car? >> There's cars over there. You'll see is a it's a blue Nissan >> additional 41. >> All right, hang on. >> Oh my god. This is going to be on my license. >> Uh yeah. >> Hang on a second. Do you have anything on you that's going to poke me or stick me? >> No, you're good. You're I promise. I promise. Check me. Uh, vape. >> Vape. We're going to leave that in your pocket for now. All right. >> Okay. >> All right. Go ahead. >> My mom's going to kill me. >> Ow. Um, I have a question. >> What's the matter? Uh, these are not to be a complainer like that, but these are kind of tight. >> It's We're going to we're going to be next parking lot and we're going to be back in. >> Can you pull up my pants? I feel like my stomach is out. >> Better. >> Yeah. Thank you. >> Watch your neck. >> I'm uh I'm out of your way. I'm just going to back up over here and pull him out. >> He's going to be pulling out. I want to get out of his way. So, I'm going to back out. >> Yeah, I I mean, I can back this way and go that way. >> I'll hang with him. I'll hang with him. >> All right. >> Oh, yeah. >> Yeah. Thanks, Will my car be fine? >> I'm sorry. >> I said, "Will my car be fine?" Like when I sober up like >> So you have you'll have 12 hours from now to uh to pick it up. or I'm sorry. >> Nothing will happen to >> No, nothing's going to happen to it >> on like Mariah's >> on what? >> Like and Mariah like hers get towed. >> Well, yours is going to get towed, too. >> Am I going to be in the same cell with her at least? >> Uh, no. 1179. >> So, where did you park? >> 117. >> I parked far actually. >> 117 to 98. >> Is it back? Is it back here? >> It's going to be in the municipal parking lot just on the other side of our fence. >> All right. It's in the municipal lot. It's It's next door. >> Yeah. Where is over there? Get that one too. >> Headquarters. >> Do you see it? >> Yeah, it's it's next door. >> Okay. >> I'll be transporting one female 413 from my location starting 50 923.5. No, sorry. >> No, this is it. >> One second. >> All right, just hang out right there for me. >> 11 for the 41. It's going to be Papa 23 Victor Lima. >> Can you lift up my pants? It keeps falling. >> Get grab the back of the cuff there with your hands and hold them up yourself. Watch your step. Thank you, sir. Turn left. >> Have a seat right here on this this chair. >> All right. >> What's that? No, you can't have your phone right now. >> Yeah, >> hi. You guys together? >> Yes. >> Okay. All right. Um, your mom? >> Yeah. >> Can I have yours? >> Marissa was read the standard statement for motor vehicle operators at the station and she agreed to submit breath samples. Her alco test results indicated a back level of 0.85% to 85% which was more than triple the legal limit of 0.08%. After the alco test was complete, she was released to her mother after she signed the standard statement for motor vehicle operators on Mariss's behalf. >> All right. So, this paperwork uh how much do you how much do you know at this point? Um, well, I know she's been drinking and I have been calling her all night long, even this morning, like freaking on her >> and stuff. And then she called me cuz she's supposed to work today. She called me saying, "Oh, uh, Amariah got pulled over for a DUI." I said, "Well, what about you?" And then I was calling her and calling her and calling her and then >> Yeah. So, we ended up we received a call from somebody next door at Waw Wa here um that there was some type of dispute in the in the parking lot when we arrived either I I got there a little bit after so I don't know what who the dispute was whether there was an actual dispute >> probably with them too >> but uh is Amariah >> Amariah was placed under arrest um Marissa at that point wasn't under arrest you know didn't exhibit signs of intoxication at that point. Uh we explained to her it's hey the you know uh Anamaria is going to need a need a ride. You can go to police headquarters. It's right next door and then wait there in the lobby. And then we would be doing this essentially with between her and Anna Anna Maria and Mariah. >> Um and >> thank you. >> No problem. So, while we were still um doing field sobriety tests on on Amariah and she was placed under arrest, Marissa ended up walking back. So, she moved her car from Waw Wa to next to police headquarters here and then walked back and then while she was standing there, we started detecting the odor of al, you know, alcoholic beverage on her, sworn her words a little bit. So, I don't know if like the the time frame like when she last when she last drank, she said she took four four shots at about 3:00 a.m. I seem to think it was probably a little bit closer to when we actually got called there. >> Um, but we ran her through the through the tests and, you know, she's >> she was under influence. So, >> if I had it my way, I wouldn't even be getting her right now. My son passed away four months ago yesterday. >> And ever since then, it's been on with this [ __ ] Like you when you bring her out, you better cuz I don't even know. I have been fighting with her, arguing with her, giving her ultimatums. >> Like, she has been putting me through absolute hell. And I've been telling you're going to get a DUI, then you're going to ruin your life. You think you're going to work in the medical field with this, >> right? >> I've been telling her, >> right? until I'm blew in the face. Last night she took off at 12:30 last night. She was home sleeping because somebody supposedly stole Amariah's car. >> Well, >> like you know what I mean? Like >> the [ __ ] show is insane. Now, is anybody picking up Amariah or am I? >> I don't know. Um, she was actually brought to another another agency to to do the box because when when you run the Alka test, it it takes a little bit of time. It takes about 45 minutes for the entire process and um it's we only have we only have one so it's almost easier to just bring the other >> she could be on her own. >> Um yes >> I don't mean to be mean but >> slowed down. Sorry I interfere. Uh the mother did call. She's supposed to be coming to get her. >> Okay. >> Yeah. Waiting for us to call. >> Okay. All right. >> Um All right. So All right. So >> good. >> I do want to say Marissa's been very very respectful. No, not at all. >> Don't get that. Come on. I want to see that on video. >> Very, very respectful, you know. Um I don't know if she understands the whole >> No, she probably didn't even call out a work. Lost her job. >> She is a pathetic alcoholic and I have no tolerance for it. A party is a party. Okay, >> but the party isn't every What's the [ __ ] holiday? Monday. Like >> I'm p Like I'm angry. Um, so this this is a potential liability warning. Um, essentially what it's what it is is that you're going to be taking responsibility for her. You're not going to allow her to drive for for at least the next the next 12 hours. >> Um, so I just need a signature from you. >> Okay. And um >> on this line >> and then um to get her car out of impound. I mean, she just bought this car. She got a good job. >> Yeah. >> Like whatever. So that can't happen probably until Monday. Um, well, actually, technically speaking, she'd be able to get it at 8:30 tonight because it's 12 hours from the time of arrest. Will they be open? I don't know. I'll let you know which which tow company it is so that you you know, you'll be able to make arrangements with her. >> Um, I'll make a I'm going to make a copy of your license. I'm going to make a copy of this and I'll I'll give you the original. >> Okay. >> Um, and then I'll I'll bring her out. She did get she did get summoned for uh driving while intoxicated and reckless driving. In New Jersey, anytime you're driving under the influence, you're recklessly driving. So, they go hand in hand. Um >> I wonder if this will be the wakeup call. Probably not. >> I don't know. I I can't I can't tell you whether that's going to happen. >> I am. So, you don't know that. You're right. >> I believe it. I believe it. All right. I'm gonna uh like I said, I'm gonna make a couple copies of this and I'll I'll walk her out. Okay. >> All right. >> So, there's your driver license and the the paperwork that I had you signed. >> Is there anything at the towyard I need to hand them? >> Oh, um you know what? Uh Kim I do. >> Who? It was Accurate Towing, right? >> Correct. >> Do you have a a card for them? >> Yes, I do. >> Okay. >> So, um once it's been once it's been the 12 hours, it'll be So, 8:30 tonight, it'll be available to uh be released. They you you can go there. They will call us and say >> like, "Is the vehicle released?" And we'll say, "Yes, you'll be able to you'll be able to pick it up." >> Yeah. It's the weekend. I I've been down this road with her father at Accurate Towing. They're not going to be able to get this car until Monday. >> Okay. >> Good luck with those charges. >> All right. Thank you. >> That you have to pay. >> Thank you. >> Oh, did you think, sunshine, you were just going to get a DUI of dozen roses and walk the [ __ ] out of the door? >> Get your [ __ ] ass out the door. You're pathetic. >> Good luck, Marissa. All right. [Music] Deactivate. >> Nobody is getting Amaria but her mother. That's it. You're now. How you getting her? Start walking then. >> What's going on? Did >> you bring Mr. Mr. Do you remember his name? Mr. Why? >> Mr. German Mr. German. >> Well, he's not >> Marissa. MRI is being picked up by her mother. All right. She might have already been been picked up. So, you can make arrangements later on to meet up with her if that's what you want to do. But >> I could get my car at 8 tonight. No, I called Accurate Towing. >> No, not even tomorrow. It's Sunday. You have to wait until Monday. The only thing they're doing is towing. They're going to be closed 8:30 tonight. So, you can't get it tonight. Nobody's going to be there except for emergency towing. Tomorrow is Sunday. Nobody's working except for emergency towing. You have to wait until Monday. And oh yeah, it's going to be Monday afternoon because I got to take that one somewhere in the morning. Just bring me to jail. I need a vacay. >> That's no big deal. >> Can't I just like go in solitary or some [ __ ] >> I'm sorry. >> Why? Just coffee. That's all I need. Coffee. >> Can you put your seatelt on and go with your mom, please? >> Your journey is >> And you think all of this is funny. >> It's not funny. Here. Here's the buckle. >> Has been very intoxicated since four months ago. >> You ever This is the one who wanted no alcohol at her birthday party. It's because she didn't want to see people drunk. Now look at you, Allison. Calling Allison for alcoholic. You're going to make me do to you what I did to your brother and turn my [ __ ] back on your ass. That what you want? Just come all the way out here from Browns Mills to help you. She didn't care. She wouldn't be here. >> Take this as a learning opportunity. All right. It's Sergeant Burway and I see it daily with people who >> I don't know how >> who drink and drink themselves to death at at young ages. My uncle was 47 years old when he dragged himself to death. >> Liver shut down, kidneys shut down, everything. >> It's very painful, very painful way to die. >> And it's even worse to watch somebody that you care about. And like I keep saying, there's nothing more disgusting than a girl that's a drug addict or an alcoholic. There's nothing worse. I mean, it's bad for the guys, too. But there's nothing worse. Cuz all she'll ever be is abused and used and all that crap. All for what? Vodka. For [ __ ] vodka. >> I thought he was going to just drive on the water. So, are you good, Marissa? And it's easy. See? Turn your back. Boom. See that? Turn your back again. It may hurt. I'm not saying that. I'm not heartless. But in that situation, I could be. You're dragging me down like that where I'm getting arrested. Peace. I'm out. I'll never see you again. She broke up with her the first week since she got me dressed. >> Yeah, that was the first time we broke up with her when you were teenagers. Remember that? >> Yeah. Not as gangster anymore. Um, has nothing to do with being gangsters. It's having morals. It's wanting stuff out of life. Are we good, Marissa? Are you going to give me any problem? Take a nap on the way home. >> Come on. She's getting she's getting intoxicated. >> My car is going to get [ __ ] repo or some [ __ ] >> It's not repo. It's impounded. >> No, but it's going to get taken away from me. >> It's not going to get taken away from you. You got to get it. I guess you got a lot of charges that you have to face. >> You think your insurance is high now? >> Wait. >> No, I can't. >> This is not what you need to be worried about, right? You need to worry about getting home. >> All right. Bob's here to take you home. No Uber is taking you in this condition. No. >> And what's going to happen if you stay here with us? You're probably going to go to the hospital and then you're going to sit in the hospital all day because they're not going to even look at you until you're a zero. And that's going to take about 18 hours. >> So, this is your best option right now. >> My insurance is going to go up. >> No, sweetheart. They're going to lower it by 250 a month because you're just such a good person and you do everything according to the law. >> Can we go now? >> No. This it already went up. >> What?
