Around 2:38 a.m. on February 18, 2025, Officer McCarthy with the Lakewood Police Department responded to the game on bar located at 17103 Detroit Avenue on a report of an intoxicated female sitting inside a Kia. Officer McCarthy arrived on scene around 2:41 a.m. and noticed that a female was sitting inside the driver's seat of a 2020 Kia Optima and she also had a passenger sitting inside the front seat. Officer McCarthy made contact with the female and she was identified as 21year-old Shannon Hayes. Heard a guy got in a car and was highly highly intoxicated. So no. You guys drinking today? No, I was taking him back to his car over here, but my friends are over here. I copy. What was that description again that I saw in Kad? No, he's not. No, I was talking to my uh dispatch. I know. Um officer, we just came out. We were playing pool. Yeah, that's me talking. I'm sorry. We were just in there playing pool. We just came out. Shannon told officer McCarthy that they were playing pool inside the game on bar earlier that evening, but initially denied consuming any alcohol. After another officer arrived on scene to exist, Shannon was asked to exit the vehicle and perform field sobriety exercises. Sounds good. Um, like I said, I mean, we could we I was only pulling over here and then we were smack into this blue car right over here. Okay. But just you weren't drinking at all tonight. Okay. During the HGN test, Officer McCarthy observed the lack of smooth pursuit, distinct and sustained nestagmas at maximum deviation, and the onset of nestagmas prior to 45°. The second exercise was the walk and turn test, which was administered inside the bar because there was snow on the ground. villain. During the walk and turn test, Shannon did not touch heel to two on each step while turning improperly. The last exercise was the one leg stand test. During the one leg stand test, Shannon failed to raise her foot in the proper fashion and put her foot down before the test was complete. You can do the check eyes. Okay. Yeah, she's fine. Okay. Officer McCarthy placed Shannon under arrest for physical control of a motor vehicle. After she was placed under arrest, she told the officers that she had already been arrested for OVI before. Shannon did answer a few questions and she admitting consuming four shots of green to liquor earlier that evening.
