on August 9th 2024 a law enforcement officer observed a vehicle driving on the wrong side of the road during routine Patrols in Lake Mary Florida this prompted the officer to activate emergency lights and stop the vehicle safely upon approaching the officer noticed a 25-year-old woman in a gray Hyundai Sonata who appeared visibly upset during their interaction the driver admitted she wasn't supposed to be driving and revealed that she had consumed alcohol North Country Club at East goodart on a gray Hyundai Sonata hello hi hi am Sergeant rder with the Lake Mary Police Department the reason I'm stopping is you drove on the wrong side of the road what's going on what's wrong I'm not supposed to be driving you're not supposed to be driving no why you got a bad license or something no I D too much right okay you have your driver's license [Music] how much of you think you had to [Music] [Music] drink all right P tile be back 36 go ahead all right Morgan do me a favor for me come back over here and Step by by your car okay just have it uh hang out by back of your car okay so coming down North Country Club she's in front of me and I'm passing like probably Lake View coming up to Crystal Lake and she's up by Wilbur and she's already in the other lane like the southbound lane okay and she continues in the southbound lane for quite a while and then there's a car coming towards her and then she gets over so that's where I got her and then she immediately started crying looking down I was like what's going on I said I pull you over for that and I was like what's going on she's like I had too much to drink so I'm guessing she pulled that up somewhere over there at the shops um was she fully in yeah we yeah yeah completely yeah but I these cars don't have the in car so I turned it this on as soon as I could hello Morgan hi my name is Officer noan like Mar Police Department um so my supervisor just filled me in on everything that's going on um he said he may have stayed may you had a little too much drink tonight where are you coming from tonight it's work what's that I work at Lighthouse Seafood which one Lighthouse Seafood oh Lighthouse yeah I drank that nice and easy right next so you got off got off work went to nice and easy yeah how much you the officer asked how much she had to drink and she admitted to drinking too much after providing her driver's license she acknowledged she wasn't fit to drive the officer observed her crying and looking down during the conversation raising concerns she confessed that her alcohol intake impaired her ability to drive safely a drink tonight too much what does that mean not enough to dve what did you have to drink beer liquor wine oh shots shots of what rff what is it ruffle mins ruffle mins okay ruffle mins you know how many you had [Music] I'm Sor right what time did you get off work roughly I went home and I came back how long have you been at nice and easy a couple hours do you know what time it is right now 1 1 okay do you know what time we got there around 12 around 12 okay and you don't know how much you've consumed four five shots four five shots anything it's not it's not their fault though anything at home or just everything it nice and easy but it's my fault okay so on a scale from 1 to 10 all right or 0 to 10 I'm sorry zero being completely sober 10 being the drunkest you've ever been fall over drunk where would you put yourself five a five at that five rating would you feel comfortable with a friend family member loved one in the car with you while you drive you feel comfortable driving at that [Music] five during the investigation the driver disclosed she worked at a seafood restaurant and after her shift went to a nearby bar called nice and easy there she consumed around four to five shots of alcohol specifically a drink called Rumple mints she estimated her alcohol consumption began after midnight and continued for a couple of hours when asked how intoxicated she felt on a scale of 0 to 10 she rated herself a five but stated she would feel comfortable driving at that level are you willing to do some field sobriety exercises to dispel my alarm to make sure you are okay to drive [Music] yes I'm sorry I couldn't hear you [Music] you do you have any um existing injuries I should be aware of like any previous knee surgeries back surgeries any head injuries no do you wear glasses or contacts no you have any mechanical issues with your car no what time did you get off work and then you said you went home I got off at 8:30 but I came back at 11th were there for a while a couple hours and about four to five shots do you have anything to eat while you're over there no did you eat when you got home when you got off work when's the last time you ate one one around lunch time yeah okay all right just give to me one sec the officer conducted field sobriety exercises to assess her impairment initially she complied but as the exercises progressed she became unwilling to continue stating she didn't want to proceed the officer informed her that refusing to complete the exercises could be used against her in court she still declined and was subsequently placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol see what we have for a reference all right Mar I'm going have you come over here for me and I'm just going to have you stand at the top of that line and then turn around and face me all right so what I want you to do is I want you to stay standing in that position and I want you to follow the white light with your eyes In Your Eyes Only all right you're not going to turn your head left you're not going to turn it right okay all right so for this next exercise I'm going to get you in a a standing position um I'm going to have you hold that position while I explain the next exercise and I'm also going to demonstrate it for you okay um so you see this uh green or yellow tape right here all right and we're going to use this for a reference line so what I want you to do is I want you to put your your foot on the line and put your right foot in front of your left foot with the heel of your right foot touching the toes of your left put your arms down at your side and I want you to stay in that position and tell you until I tell you to begin the exercise okay so from that position so with your left foot on line right foot in front of your left arms down at your side I want you to watch me cuz I'm going to demonstrate the exercise okay I know [Laughter] do you have any questions all right whenever you're ready you may begin [Music] [Music] what's going on are you done you want to try it again what was that just what talk to me [Music] just than me what's up just than me you don't want to do any more exercises all right so I do have to let you know if you don't want to continue I do have to base a decision whether place you in arrest tonight or not if you refuse that they could be used against you in court so now knowing that you still not want to do the exercises she committed to consuming several alcoholic shots failed field sobriety tests and was arrested her alcohol level was too high requiring medical clearance before jail processing after being detained she mentioned no injuries glasses or mechanical issues affecting her driving ability she admitted she had not eaten since lunch earlier that day which likely contributed to her intoxication [Music] level right now you're going to be place on for driving under the [Music] influencer are those too tight or are they okay okay is there anything of value inside your car that you want to go with you wallet phone I mean phone you don't have any weapons or drugs on you do so we're going to have a female officer come out here and just do a p down okay just go to have a seat until they get here $ bill it's interesting might have bottom from the bank I've never seen this my name in person you have to like request this in the bank I think Morgan um so I counted $261 cash does that sound right yeah all right so I'm going have you step out and then just face the car leg you have anything that's you to take you want no a search of her vehicle revealed no weapons or drugs and her belongings including $261 in cash were documented due to her high level of intoxication she was taken to a hospital for medical clearance before being transported to jail she was informed that any hidden contra band brought into the jail would incur additional charges the officer followed all standard procedures ensuring her safety and that of others your legs your stance all right going have a seat on all right I just say the same thing to everyone there's nothing hidden or concealed inside of you or anything like that cuz anything brought into the jails in additional charge right I appreciate it yeah no problem was it D or do you oh okay thank you how's it going uh du this real well yeah it's just hygiene and it's like $261 in cash drugs no weapons yep all so they fill you in on what's going on so due to your alcohol level you're too high to be admitted here so I have to take you to the hospital to get medically cleared and then we have to come back here all right so need to stand up turn around put your trans spinder back oh one second stand back over here [Music] the driver was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after being stopped for reckless driving on the wrong side of the road additional penalties May apply if concealed Contraband or prohibited items are discovered during searches at the
