backyard on a rough production battery. >> What? >> On June 28th, 2025, officers responded to a residence in Villa Park, Illinois for what was initially reported as a medical assist. The call quickly escalated into a domestic battery investigation after a husband reported being assaulted during an argument with his wife, who had recently relapsed after months of sobriety. As officers investigated the incident, conflicting statements ultimately led to an arrest. >> Hi, what's going on? >> So, my wife's a recovering alcoholic and she's relapsed 2 weeks ago. Don't listen to anything my mother-in-law has to say here. >> Yeah, she wasn't here. Call her away. So, there's been an issue for the last two weeks. My wife made it 145 days sober and relapsed last week. She had a seizure. You know, she's like all these bruises are from all uh the IVs that tried to did during the seizure. She was strapped down into a bed. Anyways, fast forward to today. I'm at baseball for like 6 hours today. Come home, find a bottle of wine on the counter. She's yelling and screaming. I I tried grabbing the rest of her plastic cup and she jammed it into my face. I don't know if I'm bleeding, but it feels like I have a mark somewhere up here. >> Yeah, you got a little boil up on your upper lip. >> So, I said this, I'm calling the cops. Fair enough. >> She's on court supervision. She's not supposed to be drinking. >> She's in violation of her court supervision. Okay. >> And she's claiming that I've been hitting her, but there's nothing. She had six public safety guys holding her down just last Wednesday when it Thursday. She was strapped to a bed. >> What kind of cup did she shove in your face? >> Plastic orange count. A plastic orange cup. >> Can I see it? >> You mind if I come in with you? >> Yeah, for sure. So, found this in the garbage can. Get home. I'm at baseball with my son. He's downstairs. He's playing video games and watching movies. Grab this thing. She has this and she jabs me in the face. Yeah. And obviously there's this whole mess. That's it. I've been trying to avoid having to call the cops cuz she's on court supervision. And we agreed to get separated, but she's like her parents are so on a power trip because she's like freaking out about losing this house. And I was like, "Listen, I'll just we're going to dissolve the house. We're going to move on." I'm at baseball all day long. Come home. She's drinking bed. And she was so then she pulled this actually it was sitting here full of wine and when I tried grabbing it uh and I was like sitting here and we were like and she went >> so wine splash all over you too. >> Yes. Okay. >> Uh during this when I was trying to grab it I mean she was here. I tried grabbing it. She jabbed me and I went like this across her face. >> There was no open hitting or anything like that. So she so she tried to hit you with like a while you had the cup. >> No, this had the cup. She had the cup >> and I tried grabbing it and then she just said and she spilled it all over me which is kind of dried but if you were to smell me I smell like wine and this way hit me in the lip and I was like get away. >> So I guess my question is were you guys fighting over the cup or did she intentionally shove the cup in your face? >> Intentionally shoved it in my face. >> Well actually I tried All right. So, I don't know how the terminology. I tried to grab it >> and once she was like realizing that she couldn't drink it, >> she just said you and like tried to spill it on me, but I'm right here and hit my face. >> And so, do you think that she tried to hit you with a cup or do you think she was trying to splash the alcohol or just give up and dump the cup? >> I think she tried to dump it into my face as hard as possible. >> Intentionally, possibly hitting me in the face. Um, but it did hit me in the face. I remember initially touching my face and having blood. I don't have blood now. I haven't looked in the mirror, but this has been like 2 weeks and I'm like, she's been saying her appearance and then coming back during the day. She's walking around. She's begging me for booze. But literally, she got she had to be held down during this seizure. I mean, there has to be pictures or uh evidence. None of this is >> No. I mean, if it's bruised already, like she's already healing. >> She had to be strapped down. She had to be detained. She got strapped on ankles, arms. They she was wiggling around so much that and she goes to her parents house and she's like, "Oh, he's hitting me. He's hitting me." But I'm like, "That's from they they tried six times to put IV in your arm because you were so up and you just had a seizure >> and now her parents are like, "Oh, you must be hitting my daughter." And I'm like, "Are you kidding me? Do you know what?" And then my father-in-law didn't tell my mother-in-law why she was in the hospital until Yes. I I told her yesterday. I was like, "Listen, she was she had a grandma seizure on our back porch here because she tried with um detoxing here in the house >> solo." >> Depending on what she says, she might I'm not going to lie, she might be getting arrested today because there's obvious signs of injury. My hands are kind of tied. So today, this is going to be documented no matter what. There's a good chance she's getting arrested today. So after after she hit you in the cup with the or the face with the cuff, >> I said this. Yeah. I've been putting this off for so long cuz I don't want my wife to go to jail. Actually, we've actually just talked about separating. Um, but I don't need the mother of my child going to jail. I was like, I can't deal with this anymore. >> All right, I'm going to go talk to her and then, um, I'll get back to you if I need anything. Okay. >> What's going on? >> Um, I got hit in the face. >> Where? >> In the right eye. And then, um, and well, it's probably It just happened about 30 minutes ago. by who? >> Husband who says, which is about the first time he's hit me. So, I called my parents, that's my mother, to get picked up to be brought to our site. >> Sorry. How did all this start? >> I was at home today um alone. I did not do anything and I got I got hit a lot. So, >> you what? I'm sorry. >> I get hit a lot. >> Okay. But what happened today? What triggered obviously there had to be some kind of an argument. >> Um he was mad at me. just because um I'm an alcoholic, but I'm fine today. Well, if I'm not fine, I don't feel great, but I didn't do anything today. I took a shower. I stayed home. I was resting. >> Say you're recovering. Is that what you said? >> Yes. >> Okay. So, what again? What stemmed an argument between you two? If you're recovering, you're not doing anything wrong. That's not usually a start of an argument. Something >> happened. No, it's not. No, it's definitely not start of an argument. He was gone at a baseball game with my son. >> Okay. Yeah. And then he came home and then got very angry with me and I said, "Why are you angry with me?" I didn't do anything. >> Is anybody injured here? >> Um >> I'm trying to figure out why my par thetics are staging here. So obviously I don't other than getting hit as hard as I could in the right eye. Um I don't think so. >> Well, there's two sides of the story. She's reported >> there. She's reported domestic abuse >> were her parents and and I just wanted to get picked up. I didn't want police called. I wasn't even planning on calling police on him. I just wanted to get to a safe space. >> Got it. >> You know, that's what's going on. It's a It's a hook and tap. Hook and tap. >> Still wrapping us up. >> Okay. >> I think there you guys were originally called for her, but she's not making any statements that would require you. But >> yeah, >> I'm just going to go. >> We'll do the assessment. The party's not injured. That's where I just go inside and I'll build it for you. >> You guys live around it. >> I went in the house. I heard him telling somebody on the phone my name. He said, "You can't go in the house. My grandson's in there. I just wanted to make sure." So, I did go in through the basement. The child's watching video games. Can you see any of this? It's quite fine. I didn't ask. And I just said, "Hey, are you doing okay, buddy?" And he said, "Yeah." Well, obviously I'm a husband. We were panicked and her parents said, "Somebody just hit me." But there's been things going on that she wouldn't tell us about. She's had bruises. >> Uh so they just checked her out. She I guess she doesn't want any treatment. So they just got to fill out the paperwork. They came out and that's it. >> Yeah. It's an unfortunate situation that you know she's been recovering alcohol. So he blames everything on that. Oh, she fell down. She ran into a door. You know, all that stuff. And and some of that may be true, but it's not all. There's an advantage here to someone who wants to have in my opinion. >> Yes. >> Right. >> Yes. >> This is my area. I'm a reporting officer, so I know like probably already told him what happened. I need you to tell me again. >> Yeah. Um I was at home alone today and then my husband came home. We got upset. I do not know why, even though I know that sounds unusual and I got hit with the right eye as hard as possible. So, I called my parents just to get some mercy and then Pete decided, "Okay." >> Okay. Is there anything else that happened that you're leaving out? >> No. >> Okay. So, what about the wine? The bottle of wine and the cup full of wine. >> Well, I that's not true. >> Well, I mean, there's wine all over the counter and there's an empty bottle of wine. He's got a cut on his face where you said that you jabbed a cup into his face. >> I didn't jab a cup into his face. >> Okay. So, why would he have a cut on his upper lip? >> Um, my husband drinks a lot. How did he You said he hit you in the face. How did he hit you? >> Open palm to the right eye. >> Which hand? >> I Well, he either was I guess it would have been his left hand or in my right eye. >> So, what happened after that? >> Um I called my parents immediately and he said, "I want to get out of here to be in the safe space." >> All right. Did he hit you anywhere else? >> Not today. >> Okay. All right. Please do me a favor. Turn around. Put your hand on your back. You're on a rustic battery. What? >> Hold on. Hold on. >> Please just tell me. >> Can I ask you a question? >> Sure. We're going to go in the car first, though. Okay. >> Can I Could I ask? >> No, you cannot ask me a question. >> All right. Have a seat for me, please. >> Yes. >> Thank you. >> How did this happen? >> So, right now, based on the circumstances, you're leaving out parts of the story that are very obviously true to me that where there's wine involved and that you had been drinking. He's got obvious signs of injury on him and you've got signs of injury that appear to be healing already, but that doesn't appear that this happened to me today. He told me that you were in the hospital before and had to be strapped down. Oh, that's what the bruising has caused from all the IVs in your arm. >> So, this is the third time that I've been in trouble for getting hit. >> Okay. And that's that's also taken into account like all the previous issues. Okay. However, given the circumstances, somebody has to go to jail. >> There there's obvious signs of injury. I don't have a choice. I'm mandated by the state of Illinois to make an arrest. I don't have a choice in this. This is something the state says we have to do. Um if there's any previous >> Please don't put me in jail overnight. >> Unfortunat I >> Can you put my handcuffs at least in front? I get >> We're going back to the station right now. Okay. All right. So, give me a few minutes. All right. We'll be on the way. >> You got the DV sub, man. >> You got the DV sub. Thank you. >> Involved in a domestic related incident. Yes, there is a mandated arrest. That's first Steve statue. >> But for him, not me. >> Wow. This is wild. >> Sorry. >> I said this is wild. Did you take his blood alcohol? >> No, I don't. I'm not going to. And it's not really relevant in this case. >> Why is that? >> Because somebody being paired or having a few drinks does not dispute or enhance anybody's side of the story. I have to go based on what you guys said, what my observations are at the scene. >> I guess I'm just wondering why getting hit results in when I just tried to get out of the scene. Not it's going to be documented what you said. I'm not like dismissing that altogether, but basically >> because it feels really confusing to have been ignored for three times getting hit. Anyways, I hear you. I didn't mean to cut you off. I'm sorry, sir. >> No, no, no. It's it's like I said, I'm not dismissing what you're telling me. Um, but based on what I see at the scene, he's got obvious signs of injury and your apparent injuries appear to be healing already and nothing appears to be fresh on you. Like there's no you don't have any like swelling of your eye. Your eye is not black or bruised at this point. All right. >> Okay. >> All right. I got a couple questions to ask you. >> Yes. >> Uh in the past, has she ever hit, slap, kicked you or anybody else? >> Oh, yes. >> Yes. Okay. Uh threatened to harm the police if they were called? >> Uh that's why she has police she that's what that's why she has a court order against her right now because she um attacked a female officer. the uh substance abuse increased recently. >> Yes, for sure. The last 2 weeks she was 145 days old. She admitted to her mother that she was getting overwhelmed that she was turning 40, wanted to be a normal person. We went to Thursday night in the park over here. She ad she ran into some old friends. Everyone was drinking and then we went over and had a cocktail or a mocktail, but she ordered a real one. And that's when it all really started in my world. when she had money left over in her account. She was I found some bottles of vodka. Kids are fine. Did she threaten you today? >> Just with the any threats now other than throwing a cup of wine in my in my face. Some damaged property. Well, she did smash some stuff yesterday. All right. Very good. Thank you. Good luck with everything. >> The investigation concluded with Lisa Perbilski being taken into custody. She was charged with domestic battery by physical contact and domestic battery causing bodily harm, both misdemeanor offenses. These charges are based on allegations and information available at the time of arrest. All individuals are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
