Description

REAL POLICE BODYCAM footage captures the moment an officer explains how a DUI suspect could have avoided physical extraction from her vehicle by simply complying with lawful commands. This bodycam video documents the critical exchange highlighting how suspect choices directly determine police response levels.

In this police bodycam footage, 46-year-old Shawn Mullarkey continues her pattern of complaints about the officers' actions during her arrest: "The next time you think it's okay to roll up and snatch me out of a car in front of my kids..." This accusatory statement, captured on the bodycam, attempts to frame the officers' actions as inappropriate despite earlier footage showing multiple refused commands before physical extraction became necessary.

The officer immediately counters with a simple explanation that completely reframes the narrative: "I didn't have to if you just got out of the car." This matter-of-fact response, recorded clearly on police bodycam, places responsibility for the escalation directly on Mullarkey's choices rather than officer conduct.

When Mullarkey attempts to object with "No no no," the officer repeats the fundamental point that defined the entire interaction: "All you had to do was get out of the car." This straightforward statement, documented on bodycam, emphasizes how the entire physical confrontation could have been avoided through basic compliance with lawful orders.

According to court records, this 2022 incident in Hinsdale, Illinois ultimately led to Mullarkey pleading guilty to aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, aggravated assault to a peace officer, and resisting or obstructing a police officer. Her plea agreement required participation in the DuPage County Mental Illness Court Alternative Program.

This police bodycam footage highlights a fundamental truth in police encounters: that suspect choices directly determine the level of force required, and that simple compliance with lawful commands typically prevents the need for physical intervention regardless of the underlying offense.
