Description

REAL POLICE BODYCAM footage captures the intense struggle as a drug suspect repeatedly pleads with officers to examine his stomach during a violent arrest in rural Illinois. This bodycam video documents the chaotic moments when Terry Gardner's resistance led to injuries for two deputies and his own apparent medical concerns.

In this police bodycam footage, deputies are attempting to control 58-year-old Terry Gardner on the ground following his resistance to arrest for drug charges discovered during a traffic stop near Sheldon, Illinois. Gardner can be heard desperately pleading: "Get on your stomach. Look at at my, look at my stomach. I can't get—" as officers command: "Get on your stomach now."

Gardner becomes increasingly frantic in his appeals: "No, look at my stomach. I can't. Come on, stop," while making disjointed references: "Dad locked him escape. Stop. Look at my stomach please. Stop." The bodycam clearly captures the confusion and desperation in his voice as flashing emergency lights illuminate the nighttime scene.

The situation intensifies as Gardner continues his pleas while officers attempt to maintain control: "Terry, look at me. Stop... Please. Stop resisting. Look at me. Look... Wait." An officer responds firmly: "Stop resisting, Terry," while Gardner makes another fragmented reference: "Dad, put on your shirt."

Most revealing is Gardner's specific fear about further use of force: "Turn onto your stomach. Look at my st- look stomach, man... Look, look at my stomach before you tase me again, please." This statement, captured clearly on police bodycam, suggests a taser had already been deployed during the earlier struggle and that Gardner believes he has some medical condition or injury that officers should observe before using the device again.

According to police reports, this March 13, 2025 incident began as a routine traffic stop but escalated when Gardner fought with deputies after cocaine and drug paraphernalia were discovered under his seat. Gardner attempted to gain control of a deputy's taser during the struggle, and both deputies sustained injuries. He continued resisting at the jail, fighting with corrections staff and refusing booking procedures before being released under Illinois' SAFE-T Act provisions.

This police bodycam footage highlights the complex challenges officers face when suspects claim medical issues during violent resistance, requiring them to balance officer safety, subject control, and potential medical concerns in rapidly evolving situations.
