Description

REAL POLICE BODYCAM footage shows Effingham County Sheriff's deputies gathering crucial information about potential weapons possessed by a domestic violence suspect. This bodycam video captures the vital weapons inquiry that helps protect both officers and the public during apprehension efforts.

In this police bodycam footage, officers demonstrate proper procedure by having a female officer speak with the female victim about weapons, asking: "Can you ask a female if she knows of any weapons he may have on him?" This gender-sensitive approach, captured on the police bodycam, often helps victims feel more comfortable sharing sensitive information.

The victim immediately responds regarding a confirmed weapon: "He had a pocket knife." When asked specifically about firearms, "Pocket knife, no guns?" the victim provides concerning information: "I thought... I don't know. He says he does but I've never seen him." When the officer seeks clarification, "He says he has guns?" the victim confirms this claim while revealing an important legal detail: "Yeah, but I'm a felon so I'm not allowed around him. He's not supposed to."

This critical weapons information is immediately relayed to other officers, as heard on the bodycam: "She says he had a pocket knife on him. He also says he has guns but she has never seen him before." This real-time sharing of officer safety information demonstrates the importance of thorough questioning during domestic violence investigations.

The victim also appears to be experiencing pain during the interview, stating "That hurts. I did that the other day," indicating either previous injuries or new injuries from the recent assault where she was punched in the throat and face at a gas station and thrown from a vehicle. She had also previously disclosed a strangulation incident at home where she stated "I couldn't breathe. I was fighting."

According to official reports, the Effingham County Sheriff's Office arrested 30-year-old Alexander T. N. Roberts of Neoga following this incident on charges of aggravated domestic battery and child endangerment.

This police bodycam footage highlights the critical officer safety component of domestic violence investigations and how information about potential weapons influences apprehension strategies.
