Description

On March 30, 2026, a routine traffic stop in Harrison County, Ohio, turned into a violent confrontation when a passenger allegedly pulled a handgun and opened fire on a sheriff's deputy.
The deputy managed to escape down an embankment, suffering injuries in the fall. The suspect, identified as 53-year-old Michael Decker, then stole the driver's SUV and fled, leading police on a high-speed pursuit that exceeded 100 mph.
After spike strips disabled the vehicle, Decker exchanged gunfire with an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper before disappearing into the woods. A massive manhunt followed, involving local law enforcement, tactical teams, aviation units, and federal partners.
Hours later, a police helicopter located Decker hiding in a wooded area. The final confrontation ended when an officer shot Decker after investigators said he brandished a weapon toward law enforcement. Officers immediately provided medical aid, but Decker was pronounced dead at the scene.
This video features police footage of the incident, along with original commentary and analysis examining the traffic stop, the escalating danger, the pursuit, and the final confrontation.
