Phoenix, Arizona — On February 22, 2023, Phoenix Police received a 911 call at 4:43 p.m. of a suspicious man who the caller believed may be related to other police activity noticed in the area. During the initial 911 call, the caller stated the suspicious activity was around a U-Haul truck and the caller provided the license plate number of that truck. At about 5:05 p.m. officers checking the area saw a man matching the description walking in the neighborhood. When officers tried to contact the man, he immediately pulled out a handgun and pointed it toward officers. Officers gave the msn several commands to drop the gun. He did not. The man continued to point the gun towards officers at which time one of the officers fired his handgun. The man was taken to the hospital, where he later died. No officers were hurt.
