Description

REAL POLICE BODYCAM footage captures a deputy describing the exact moment a felony fugitive mother fled with three children while he was checking her paperwork. This bodycam video documents the critical tactical error that initiated a dangerous high-speed pursuit endangering young lives.

In this police bodycam footage, a Fayette County deputy continues explaining the sequence of events that led to Clorisa Franklin's desperate flight: "Next thing I know she gives me her name and date of birth. I ran it, 10-94, she came back." This investigative process, captured on the bodycam, established the standard procedure that revealed Franklin's fugitive status.

The deputy details the serious findings: "She wanted out of New Mexico for not supposed to be around her kids. New Mexico, a felony warrant, she's got a felony warrant out of Brazoria County. They're willing to extradite and everything like that." This multi-state wanted status, recorded on police bodycam, explains Franklin's motivation to flee rather than face arrest and separation from the children she wasn't legally permitted to have.

The deputy then describes the crucial tactical moment: "She gave me some paperwork. I said 'Wait just a minute, let me check in.' When I did, I grabbed the paperwork..." He continues with the pivotal instant of flight: "All, all of a sudden I heard take off. The run was on." This split-second decision point, documented on bodycam, reveals how quickly a routine document check transformed into a dangerous pursuit.

The deputy acknowledges recovering evidence: "I got her paperwork in the front towards us, it's probably all thrown in the front of the car," before noting her current status: "She's in the back of the car." He then makes a candid admission of a tactical error: "I did stupid mistake, really did," suggesting he momentarily let his guard down which enabled her escape.

The conversation shifts to the pressing issue of the children, with the deputy stating: "I gotta figure out something to do with your kids," followed by an urgent jurisdictional question: "Listen, where's the nearest county?" This focus on child welfare, captured on police bodycam, demonstrates the immediate concerns following the mother's arrest.

According to police reports, this January 31, 2024 incident in Fayette County, Texas resulted in a high-speed chase exceeding 100 mph with Franklin's three children under 10 in the backseat. The pursuit, which included multiple directional changes, ended after tire deflation devices were deployed. Franklin was ultimately charged with evading arrest and child endangerment in addition to her existing felony warrants from multiple states.

This police bodycam footage provides valuable insight into how quickly routine traffic stops can escalate to dangerous pursuits, particularly when suspects have significant motivation to flee due to serious pending charges.
