Description

REAL POLICE BODYCAM footage captures a domestic battery suspect dramatically changing her story about a phone after persistent questioning on Christmas Day. This bodycam video documents how a categorical denial transforms into a detailed narrative once officers press for specifics.

In this police bodycam footage, officers confront 53-year-old Theresa Lepinski with allegations about taking the victim's phone: "is you went over there and took his phone." She responds with categorical denial: "I don't care, I don't care what you think, what you say. I never went over there. I never took his goddamn phone." This absolute rejection, captured on the bodycam, includes emotionally-charged language suggesting complete innocence.

She continues with accusations against the victim: "And I'm sick of him and his lies. I'm sick of him. Because all he does uh to me is lie to me, about me, and I'm sick of it." This attempt to redirect focus to the victim's credibility, recorded on police bodycam, represents a common deflection strategy before acknowledging her plans to leave: "He wants me out. I will get out. I'm trying to find a house right now to buy."

Lepinski expresses holiday sentiments: "It's Christmas and I'm sorry you have to work on Christmas," followed by revealing personal details: "Christmas means shit to me anymore. My children aren't here. They're too... Christmas, yes?" She reiterates her sympathy for the officers' holiday duty: "Yes. And I'm sorry you have to work and be away from your families. I am."

The interaction takes a critical turn when an officer revisits the phone issue with specific questioning: "So I was back there. Can you run me through how you got the phone again uh I was confused." Despite her previous categorical denial, Lepinski now responds: "Sure," and launches into a detailed narrative: "I went to check on my cabin—" The officer acknowledges: "Mm-hmm," and she continues: "which I do every day to make sure it's still intact and not burned down to the ground."

As Lepinski states "On my way back from there I—" the officer interjects with a location question: "Is your cabin the one up on the stilts, stilts?" She claims unfamiliarity with the area: "I don't know what it looks like. I've never been out there." After clarification about a "pole barn" or "yard barn," she confirms ownership: "That's mine—Okay, that I paid for."

She provides geographical context: "Um, he's staying at Jeremy's camp, which is the little cabin or the little—" The officer confirms: "Yeah, yeah, trailer." Lepinski then delivers a completely different account than her initial denial: "So on my way out as I'm driving out—Uh-huh, I stop right where it crosses like this. Uh-huh. There was a phone in the middle of the road."

Her new narrative continues: "In... I stop the truck, grab the phone—Okay, I knew it was his phone 'cause I saw the picture. Uh-huh. I know his phone." She describes her actions: "And and I drove it back. About halfway here I was like halfway here and I said 'You know I'm just gonna take it back.' Put it under 'cause I know it's Jack's phone. I put it under the trash can."

Lepinski explains her communication attempt: "That's when I said 'Hey I got your phone.' Uh-huh. Then I realized 'Well he's not gonna get the message 'cause I have his phone.' Uh-huh." She concludes with location details: "And that's all I know. Other... His, his truck was not there when I went to see the cabin. His truck was not there when I took it back. That's all I know."

According to police reports, this Christmas Day 2024 incident resulted in Lepinski's arrest on charges of Domestic Battery, Burglary, and Resisting Law Enforcement after she became physically and verbally resistant to Gibson County Sheriff's deputies at a river camp location.

This police bodycam footage highlights how persistent, specific questioning can transform categorical denials into detailed narratives that often contradict initial statements, demonstrating the effectiveness of methodical investigative techniques.
