Description

A carpenter ant walks through the rainforest like nothing is wrong. She follows the trail, gathers food, and returns to her colony like every other worker. But inside her body, something has already started growing.

In this video, we follow two stories happening inside one ant: what the ant is experiencing, and what the fungus is doing. A tiny spore lands on her body, breaks through her exoskeleton, spreads through her muscles, and slowly takes control without even entering her brain.

The fungus does not need a mind. It only needs chemistry. It steers the ant to the perfect place, locks her jaws into a leaf, and grows a stalk from the back of her head to release the next generation of spores.

It is one of the creepiest and most precise parasite strategies in nature.

Watch until the end to see how the fungus turns the ant’s body into a living delivery system.
