Description

This compelling bodycam footage takes you inside a patrol car for a candid conversation between an Albuquerque police officer and a passenger involved in the Yokeen Lunford incident. The officer breaks down the severe consequences of the driver's decision to flee, explaining how it directly led to injuries, property loss, and his inevitable trip to jail.

The clip begins with the officer acknowledging the passenger's cooperation while checking on the well-being of the other woman in the car, Maria. "You are fine in cooperating with us," the officer states before asking, "Is Maria awake? Is she okay?" This establishes a professional rapport before the officer explains the harsh realities of their situation.

In a powerful moment of accountability, the officer lays the blame for the entire chaotic outcome squarely on the driver. "So because of Yokeen's decisions to run from us like that," he begins, "that's why now you guys don't have a car, Maria's missing her tooth, he's going to jail."

This direct statement, captured on bodycam, serves as a lesson in consequences, demonstrating to the passengers that their current predicament—being without a vehicle and with an injured friend—is a direct result of the driver's choice to flee from law enforcement.

This interview was recorded on January 21, 2025, in the aftermath of the crash and arrest of Yokeen Lunford, who was wanted for a violent attack at a Waffle House. The conversation highlights the collateral damage suffered by passengers when a driver decides to run from the police.

This video is a powerful look at the theme of cause and effect in policing. It shows how officers explain the chain of events to those involved, clarifying how one person's poor decisions can have serious, negative impacts on everyone around them.
