Description

On April 30, 2025, Pojoaque Police Officer Baldwin received a report of a woman passed out in her vehicle behind a liquor store. After Officer Baldwin determined that the 49-year-old woman was not a tribal member, he requested a deputy from Santa Fe County to take over the investigation. Deputy Ford arrived on scene and observed the woman sitting in the driver seat of an orange Volkswagen Bug. The police report indicates that the woman's speech was slurred and there was an odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from the vehicle. Deputy Ford also observed an unsealed container of an alcohol beverage called "99 Strawberries" on the front passenger seat of the vehicle. The woman was asked to step out of her vehicle to perform standardized field sobriety tests. She refused to perform standardized field sobriety tests and was placed in handcuffs. She was transported to the Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office where she agreed to provide breath samples for chemical testing. The tests showed a breath alcohol content of 0.21% and 0.20% BAC. She was transported to the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Center where she was booked and charged with aggravated driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and open container. The outcome of her case is discussed at the end of the video.
