Description

On December 17, 2018, Chicago Police located a stolen Mustang that had been eluding
tactical teams for months. After tracking the vehicle with a helicopter, the suspects bailed
out, leading officers on a foot chase through a residential neighborhood.

Officer Michael Scanlon cornered the driver in a gangway as he attempted to jump a chain-
link fence. Believing the suspect was reaching for a weapon in his hoodie, Scanlon drew his firearm. As the fence collapsed under their weight, a violent struggle for the weapon
occurred, resulting in a point-blank discharge.
In this video, we break down the chaotic moment the gun went off and reveal what the
suspect was actually hiding in his pocket.
