Description

REAL POLICE BODYCAM footage captures the tense moments during the arrest of a Sycamore woman charged with child abuse as she attempts to negotiate handcuffing procedures. This bodycam video documents the professional but firm response of officers to requests that would violate department policy.

In this police bodycam footage from February 24th, 2025, officers are in the process of taking 38-year-old Christine Wilkinson into custody following an investigation into alleged child abuse. The interaction begins with a discussion about personal property, specifically her cell phone: "They got chargers at the jail. They don't. It's up to you what... what... What is... You know don't wanna take your phone."

The officers explain jail procedures regarding phone access: "Are is she allowed to use it in jail or?" Another officer clarifies: "She's allowed to make a phone call. Yeah, so she needs phone numbers onto the phone." They offer practical advice: "I always suggest to bring it. I mean worst case they throw it under with the rest of the property but... Yeah I would take it just in... Doesn't hurt to have it."

The conversation shifts to medical needs: "So again you need- Okay you need- need to take your medicines. Yeah. Because... Okay." An officer inquires about medical follow-up: "Have you gotten a call from the doctor yet by the way?" Wilkinson responds with a simple "Nope." There's further discussion about medication documentation: "And then is this all the paperwork for the medications I guess to go in? No this this... That's just the medications for the next few days."

The critical moment occurs when Wilkinson attempts to avoid standard restraint procedures: "Can you just not hand-huff me don't ruin..." The officer firmly maintains policy requirements: "We we have to. It it's our policy we have to." When Wilkinson challenges this with "How how can I arrest you without handcuffs on you," she then attempts to negotiate an alternative arrangement: "Put them in front of me at least."

The officer instructs her: "Put your hands behind your back," to which Wilkinson claims: "I can't. My..." Another officer observes: "Yeah she doesn't think so." The interaction concludes with officers handling her property: "So these are your medications. We'll bring these. Um do you want the phone or no."

According to the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office, Wilkinson was arrested following an investigation that began when the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services reported suspected child abuse on February 2nd, 2025. She was charged with Aggravated Battery to a Child and two counts of Domestic Battery.

This police bodycam footage highlights the procedural aspects of taking a child abuse suspect into custody, including the necessity of following department policies regarding restraints despite suspect resistance.
