Description

REAL POLICE BODYCAM footage captures the critical first moments of a traffic stop that would escalate into a multi-person arrest involving a family returning from a car show. This bodycam video documents the initial conversation where suspicions of DUI are first confirmed by the driver's own admission.

In this police bodycam footage from November 7, 2024, a Lady Lake Police officer begins questioning the driver, 37-year-old Josephine Cordova Alfaro, who had reportedly been driving erratically with a truck pulling a trailer carrying two cars. The officer's first question establishes their origin: "Where y'all coming from?" to which Josephine responds simply, "A car show."

The officer seeks more specific information: "Where's it at?" Josephine's hesitant response consists only of "Um... Um..." This uncertainty, captured on bodycam, potentially indicates impairment or an attempt to formulate an answer. According to the police report, she later mentioned the car show was in Plant City.

The officer directly addresses his observations: "Your driving pattern... I mean I can smell alcohol coming from you." This statement, recorded on police bodycam, establishes both probable cause for the stop (driving pattern) and the officer's sensory observation of alcohol odor, which are critical elements in DUI investigations.

Josephine acknowledges the officer's statement with a simple "Mm-hmm," neither confirming nor denying the alcohol observation. The officer then asks directly: "Have you been drinking tonight?" This standard DUI investigation question elicits an admission from Josephine: "I did drink a little bit." This confession, captured clearly on bodycam, provides crucial evidence supporting the subsequent DUI charge.

What the officer couldn't yet know was that this routine traffic stop would soon escalate dramatically. According to police reports, Josephine had two juveniles in the vehicle along with Abraham Cordova Alfaro (34) and his son Amram Guardado (18). The situation would require officers to deploy a taser on Abraham, while four officers would eventually be needed to restrain Amram.

This police bodycam footage captures the critical initial confirmation of alcohol consumption that would help establish grounds for the DUI charge against Josephine, who was also charged with child neglect due to the presence of juveniles in the vehicle.
