Description

On November 3, 2024, Daniel Schmidt, 24, was arrested at the Orland Park Township Office after a confrontation at a polling place. Schmidt allegedly cut in line and refused to comply with election judges' instructions. When confronted, he reportedly became aggressive, attempted to push past officials, and punched an election judge in the face, knocking off their glasses.

Other voters and election staff intervened, restraining Schmidt until Orland Park Police arrived. The body cam footage captures the intense exchange, his resistance during the arrest, and his claims of being unlawfully detained.

Schmidt now faces aggravated battery and resisting arrest charges.
