On October 3, 2025, Las Cruces Police Officers were called to the Walmart after loss prevention personnel spotted a 35-year-old female switching tags on clothing and other merchandise. When the woman went through self-checkout, she was able to pay a reduced price due to switched tags. When Officer Rodriguez confronted the woman, she attempted to run. Officer Rodriguez grabbed the woman and took her down to the ground in order to handcuff her. Once she was in the back of the police vehicle, she repeatedly provided a false name and date of birth. This was apparently in an attempt to conceal the fact that she had 2 outstanding warrants. EMS personnel responded, but due to the use-of-force, she was taken to the hospital for a medical clearance. Her charges are listed at the end of the video. Her case is still open and all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
