Police bodycam footage captures an officer confirming vehicle ownership and asking whether there are any illegal items in the car. The officer specifically asks about guns or drugs beyond the marijuana smell already detected. This step is routine but critical in ensuring officer safety and establishing probable cause for further search. Questions like these can escalate encounters if suspects are dishonest or officers detect inconsistencies. Anthony Folkes, of Fairfield, was indicted on two felony counts stemming from a January arrest when he placed a Hamilton police officer in a chokehold. Folkes was pulled over for a busted passenger headlight and no license plate light, then resisted arrest as he was being placed under arrest following a failed field sobriety test. #bodycam #vehiclecheck #trafficstop #contraband #policefootage #lawenforcement
